Any Vols Coming out to California for the Cal Game?

We're in the lottery for permits to climb Mt. Whitney this summer, and my first choice was for the week before the game. If we get permits for that week, I'll be at the game.

Good morning my orange wearing friends! How is everyone today? Whoever said that the south has traditionally been a Democrat bastion is correct. However, the south in the last twenty to thirty years, I would say, has become mostly Republican. Who knows, maybe we are brainwashed by the liberal media so much out here in California that we have no idea what is going on back there.

GO BEARS! BEAT THE VOLUNTEERS WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT!

I love people that are not from the south, never been, and never will come down here. They love to set down in New York, California, and complain about how the south is bringing this country down. Always citing the fact that yes, there is a large republican base down here. You never hear about one of these proud democrats coming down here and trying to change something oh no that would be far to hard. Do me a favor and everyone else here on the VOLNATION board stick to football which most of you Cal fans just figured out your school played and leave politics that you know nothing about out of the discussion. I am from Tennessee and proud of it, and guess what I am a democrat and I get really angry when uninformed people from different regions start trashing my south.:banghead2:

Exactly what did he say that was inaccurate?

Well I find it only fitting after the classy act of Phil Fulmer last year. A Florida or Georgia would probably have run the score up on us. Your team did not. That is something most of us will never forget. Someone in here once said 35-18 looks a lot better than it should. You are right, and I am sorry the computers are unable to comprehend actual blowouts like that one. Rest assured that if there is some crazy miracle where we get up by a lot, we will let you come back, but not exactly win.

As for the bad showing some of the Cal fans have been giving, I am at a loss of words. I find it hard to believe that people in California would tolerate a name like “lynchEmUp” or whatever in a UC chat room. Still, that could just be some idiot with no affiliation to the University, so you never know…

so one guy on this site and another on ours were rude. is that worse than the treatment I have received here?

Why are you trying to be argumentative? I liked the guy's attitude, and have said you are a good guy.

There are rude, idiot fans in both of our fan bases. The percentage is probably equal. Sorry people berated you here.

Well that is very interesting. To say that my comments were in anyway “trashing the south” is preposterous, so please! Also, I suppose based on your comments only you know about politics, so sorry I dared to have a free thought that was counter to your ideological thinking. Also the attacks on New York and California, tired, old, juvenile, just plain stupid. Plenty of good people come from areas other than the south my dim friend.

Don't listen to that guy. You didn't say anything wrong, in fact, it was quite complimentary. I think the one guy didn't actually comprehend what you were saying.

I find myself in total agreement with the gentleman from the Pacific Time Zone.

Exactly what did he say that was inaccurate?

He never said anything inaccurate. Tennessee has been a republican state since the civil war and especially East Tennessee. Its more or less the fact that of the stigma that people automatically bring up when referencing anything about the south. Its the same argument (republican, conservative, redneck, hicks), which I know there are many people that fit that very description. But not everyone in the south is that way or acts that way. Sorry its just a pet peeve of mine. Get tired of it real real fast

The guy was saying how he LEARNED that the stigma was incorrect. He was complimenting most of us.

Yeah, republican dominated. That explains the senate tenures of Al Gore and Jim Sasser as well as the governorships of Ned McWherter and Phil Bredesen. We won't go into Estes Kefauver.

Oh, and just so I might clear up any misunderstanding, there is NOTHING wrong with being a REPUBLICAN! I should know, as I am one.

I'm going to finalize my travel plans this weekend. Anyone from the Nation interested in going to any of the A's-Tigers games that weekend?

That is few examples, and yes those are democrats, but east tennessee has been republican for a very long time. As you know Tennessee has three grand divisions, me being from East, what I have seen has been republican dominance, sorry if I came into any sort of disagreement with you its obvious that you know way way more than anyone on this board. I apologize
