Anybody don't want Texas A&M to join

Anyone else want to address this?

07 is not a troll. He has been on here longer than most and has always provided good convo and been courteous. Glad to see you again. I remember us talking about the Aggies joining the SEC last year when all this expansion talk started. If we have to expand, I was for A&M being in it then and I still am.

Who can beat who? We'll begin to know in 2013. As an aside, ACC put a 20 million buy out to leave conference. It would take a lot to get a Clemson or VT to leave, my guess is a Big East school.

One year TV revenue in the SEC.

College football tradition and rivalries will be no more!! I know everyone says we felt the same in 92 and everything worked out but this is a totally different situation. IMO by 2013 we will probably have 16 teams and it makes me sick!!!! Also JMO but there is some sneaky s**t goin on with Texas and Oklahoma and the PAC 12.

No, there isn't. Oklahoma wants badly to join the Pac-12, but the Pac-12 only wants Oklahoma if Texas is along for the ride. Nobody wants Texas (not even the ACC) because they refuse to be in any conference that would neuter The Longhorn Network and force them to be in an equitable revenue sharing situation.

Oklahoma realized it, and said they were only keeping the Big XII together if Beebe got fired and the playing field was moved towards level again, which would take care of the whole reason the Big XII was falling apart in the first place.

Texas A&M To Join The Southeastern Conference - Texas A&M Official Athletic Site - AggieAthletics.com

Very nice Video here showing info on A&M. I for one, am very excited to have them join the SEC. I was on an A&M site last night and someone said, "Do we call TN .. tu now"... (apparently a huge insult) and they responded, "Tn has been around longer then us so we need to show them respect. They are UT." Insignificant comment to some people, but this shows me already that they operate with a much greater sense of class and integrity then some of our SEC brethren.

that would mean WV if we get one from the big east... i dunno i just dont think they should be in the sec. they are not the south. i would love UVA or NC state or clemson... but i dont think that is going to happen with the acc expanding like this...who knows what is going to happen. hell we might even stay 13 teams...slive said he is staying at 13 teams in the press conference at A&M...

in all reality i think its going to be mazzou....i dont really like the idea but i guess it will grow on us...

Also, A&M's move to the SEC is huge for us in terms of adding to our academic reputation. They are an AAU member and will give additional strength to our conference academically.

Thats my point, PAC 12 was the one wanting to reach 16 teams more than any conference and all of a sudden they say, nope we're done for now. It just seems fishy to me. Like I said JMO, I dont claim to know this for sure. I just think all this realignment crap is gonna ruin college football as we know it.

Is WVU gonna be willing to raise their academic requirements to match the SEC and, if so, won't that diminish their ability to field a somewhat competitive team?

Big 12 is a giant step from the SEC they actually play D.

by your logic, tennessee isn't ready for the sec.

give it time, they will compete and will be able to hang with anyone or do better than that.

it will be a situation where even when they are "down" you are playing a school with more athletes in their home state than they know what to do with.

How is it fishy? They said they wanted 16 as long as Texas was part of it and they were willing to work with equal revenue sharing, the Horns said no like the spoiled beaches they are, so the deal is off.

Ive been preaching this in a few threads.

I knew they wanted Texas but wasnt aware it was a deal breaker.

I think the NCAA as a whole and university presidents are all fishy/sneaky/shady! Players college careers can be ruined for excepting the smallest of gifts and the NCAA, conference officials and university presidents just get richer. I just think its BS and I'm against conference realignment period, not just in the SEC.

This whole conference realignment business is nothing more than five or six dozen institutions acting purely out of self-interest. It's the free market at work for you, I'm alright with it.

TY 07. Lets hear your thoughts on the 14th team.

Mizzou would be my first choice.

NC State has been my dark horse.

Another Texas team is not an option.

The Va schools don't bring as much as they think they do as an overall athletic dept.

Outside of the current SEC footprint is far more probable.

Maryland rumors are insane.

Overall athletic success doesn't mean chit. VaTech has a lot of fans, money and comes as close as any college team to commanding the DC market.

And we all know how much they love their football in the nation's capital.

They're less of a cultural fit than Vandy.

Didn't say I liked it, but I'm just telling it how it is. I want conferences to stay at 12 because that's the biggest they can get and have everyone play everyone else with at least some regularity.

But the money is the only thing that matters, which is why VaTech is a good fit.

And how does cultural fit matter?

Money, money, money. That's all that matters. VaTech would bring lots of it.

According to Slive, a lot.

Do you really want to compare Texas dollars to Wasington DC dollars? I doubt those folks know the Redskins are playing Dallas tonight.
