Anyone play guitar?

Can anybody recommend some guitar (acoustic) strings for me? I've been playing since october and have decent calluses, so I don't need extremely light strings, unless they're just overall better.

I'm not looking to spend too much, just would like some advice (especially with deals this weekend). Links appreciated

I usually use earthwood by Ernie ball seem to last longer to then other uncoated strings but I go through strings rather quickly. I've used the D'addario before and they sound great when I first put them on but go dead very fast. Not a fan of Martin strings.

AMATEURS! How the hell do you have a 2-post correspondence about acoustic guitar strings, and not mention Elixirs? You newbs go buy yourselves some Elixir Polywebs.

I hate coated strings they sound dead to me elixirs may last forever but their sound quality is lacking. I've tried several different brands of coated strings and yet to find any I like. I haven't tried cleartones which are supposed to sound as good as uncoated strings they are next on my list.

I've never heard a cheaper set of strings that sound anywhere near as good as any kind of Elixirs. You will have to tell me which ones are supposedly better.

More of a matter of personal opinion. I never liked paying more then 15$ for a set of strings and last time I bought elixirs they were 19$ so I'm probably biased just because they cost more then what I like to pay. As for as sound quality the bluegrass guys I play with can tell when someone uses coated strings because there is a slight difference in sound between coated vs uncoated. Coated strings usually are not quite as bright sounding. As I said I use ernie ball earthwood which are pretty cheap 5$ tops and they sound great to me.

Guy Clark sang about Black Diamond strings (as cheap and obtainable, back in the day). But I found the brand online, available in black-coated phosphor bronze and got some and like em.

Anybody have suggestions on humbuckers? I want to replace the stock ones in my electric guitar. Prefer ones that are capable of coil-splitting. BTW it's a schecter C-1 standard and I mainly play blues/rock style music.

I am finally committing myself to learning blues. I have a solid background in music theory, so it's really just a matter of learning the chord positions and scales, then repetition and experimentation. So far, I have found Justin Guitar to be quite fantastic.

I have played for a long time, and I swear by Elixirs. Pricey, but they hold their tone forever and the coating is very nice on your fingers if you play very often. I found a website where you can buy single strings, as I'm always breaking my G and B.

I hate breaking my G string. 😎
