Anyone see the NOVA special last night:Evolution vs. Intelligent Design

Belief is the basis of salvation....at the day of judgement, the Bible tells us it will be too late. The nonbeleivers will see/know that God is real.

Right, but does that really change their minds, thoughts, what they have believed all of their life?

Technically, we will all go through the rapture, I know most will disagree with me on this, then the saved our brought out.

And I would be one that disagrees with you. I don't believe Christians will go through the rapture. The Anti-Christ arises during chaos and what a chaotic time in our world will the rapture bring?!

Matthew 24 is fairly straight forward.

I afford the pre tribulation people to my bastardization of the bible theory.

:)

That is probably valid. Personally, I certainly don't believe the hand of God is needed for any of it.

I know there is unknown's in the universe, and I believe there is some overriding power of some sort that we don't fully understand. There is some "theory of everything" out there somewhere. That is about as far as I take it.

I certainly don't believe the miracle-reaking, prayer answering, vindictive God of the Bible or Qu'ran was behind any of it. And I further think religion is a sham and a racket.

I would tend to agree with you to some extent. I have a feeling our reasons for believing this are probably different though.

I enjoy these debates, but realize the futility of them at the same time. If someone is willing to believe the writings of men that have been dead for a thousand+ years over the realities and proofs of modern science, then no amount of coercing is ever going to change that. You either have that ability or you don't IMO.

I don't think less of anyone who holds that belief, but I am simply not capable of discounting evidence so callously.

Someone said it best, Droski perhaps, religion is an invention of man to lessen the fear of the inevitability of death and to explain what our minds are still not fully capable of explaining. It's an "out". We would be better off without it, but we won't be without it for a long, long time - possibly never.

That line has been used for as long as man has existed...

:hi:

True, but I was referring to OUR modern times. It was far easier to blame thuderstorms on Thor in the past than it is today.

No difference.... nothing is new.

You will always have those who believe science is the answer.

Or those who believe a god created every thing.

Or those who believe in nature....

Nothing is ever new or modern.

I understand what you are saying but in essence there is no proof from either side of contention. Neither side can prove the other wrong. I am not a Bible thumper, far from it. I simply believe that evolution could be an instrument of God, that he had a hand in the process that got us here today. i also believe that there had to be some event that started the whole process, I call that God.

I concur....

Truth...we will never be without it.
