what Christians? please give us some examples of Christians that believe this?

i know your mind is so vast :eek:lol: will all knowledge.

Many Christians do not believe that the earth was created in the literal 24 hour period. Likewise many do not believe the earth is 4,900 or 6,000 years old or what have you.

100% agree. i have no problem with those saying a greater being started the evolutionary process.

I believe that God gave man and animals the ability to adapt to it's evironment.
And God said, "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds..."

any Christian that actually studies the Bible would know that was created in 7 days. i do see what your saying. those people who believe that are just wrong.

the christianity answer is simplistic and easy and that is why people like it. (note i am not saying christians are dumb just that people like easy solutions to complex problems)

I agree it is simplistic, just like the universe as a whole it is beyond our ability to fathom. Very simple indeed but it works for me.

personally (blame my jesuit education) i find it hard to rely on a book for facts about creation that was written (at a minimum) thousands of years after the fact. i also don't think god killed most of humanity in anger either.

Oh, the truth of these words.

But just like the big bang it fails to explain how something comes from nothing. In Christianity there is at least the answer I gave earlier.

Again, KB, evolution has no dog in the fight over how everything began. ID specifically theorizes on it....eg.."a designer designed it". Evolution simply states "this is how speciation happens", that's it. Every theory eventually regresses back to some "theory of everything" conclusion. And science and religion do equally horrible jobs of trying to explain what that "everything" theory is.

There is interesting research going on trying to re-create the process that started life that could have happened randomly, but there is nothing as solid as the theory of evolution is on explaining what happened afterward.

God said the wages of sin was death.

Exactly why i was careful not to use words like "most". I have always been very interested in different types of science. When I study the Bible I look into the words and meanings, actually think about what is said and what could be meant. Others take a different approach I guess. I've always been a history buff and I find this aspect of the Bible interesting as well.

You mean that they are using intellegence to design life?

I guess this was overlooked.....God tells us that there will be adaptations.

My belief is that a designer set the process in motion, had a hand in the selection that vaulted us to the position as most intelligent and dominant species. This is where our biggest point of contention would be as i see it. As I've stated before i do believe in evolution at some level.

That is probably valid. Personally, I certainly don't believe the hand of God is needed for any of it.

I know there is unknown's in the universe, and I believe there is some overriding power of some sort that we don't fully understand. There is some "theory of everything" out there somewhere. That is about as far as I take it.

I certainly don't believe the miracle-reaking, prayer answering, vindictive God of the Bible or Qu'ran was behind any of it. And I further think religion is a sham and a racket.

Stretching the truth a little aren't you there true. If they are Christians, they believe, they just may not want to argue with some one of your superior intellegence.
