Argue the merits of Bruce Pearl (merged)

The next level is competing for Final Four appearances. We aren't close today. This current crew underachieved this season and we have looked uncoached very regularly throughout CBPs tenure. That crap works in a weak SEC, but not in a one and done tourney scenario full of good coaches and good defenses.

Why does it bother you that I don't share your rosy view? It doesn't change those woderful results you're so proud of. I have a point of view and I'm expecting a final 4 style program with the money we are now spending and re facilities we bring to the chase.

Give the man time.......You are way too impatient.......remember, those who want EVERYTHING usually end up with nothing (see Kentucky Bball for an example)

It doesn't bother me one bit you are entitled to your opinion as I am mine its a message board the whole point is to argue over stuff. CHILLAX

I really don't call competing for the SEC championship every year that BP has been here as "Middlin", and calling it that defies logic. How do you know what level he can take us too? I respect a lot of your opinions, but you really have lost me here. I don't know why you have such a hard on for BP but appears when it comes to Bruce, the blood has left your brain.

We haven't competed dorcthe Sec title every year he has been here. We weren't even close this year. LSU ran away with it with less talent than we have and a new coach. Last year is actually the only title I recall. The other two were walkovers by UF.

FYI, you can't have a conversation with that guy......he has a crazy view, and he's stickin' to it!!! :eek:lol:

Did you you not watch yesteday's game? I think we are playing for the championship today! You might want to watch. We are playing some good basketball now.

U"r just lookin' for trouble........this is a perfect example of no matter how great of a job you do, there are still going to be HATERS out there.......they dont' like u'r shoes, u'r hair color, u'r laugh......they just HATE you, for no good reason.........

Are you sure u'r not an interloper?? :eek:lol:

I have a question for you BPV. If someone had told you prior to BP's arrival that he would win the east 3 of 4 yrs, win a regular season SEC title, possibly win a SEC tourney title, make 2 straight sweet 16s and being unbelievably close to an elite 8, would you have considered that a success? What about recruiting as well as anyone in the conference? What else would you have expected in 4 years? Yes, it does seem a tad bit moronic to have expected more than what has been produced to this date. People that are happy with the results to date are also not victims of some inferiority complex towards the basketball program; they just have watched Tennessee basketball prior to Bruce's arrival.

I would have called that a great improvement, but wouldn't have pretended that it was a sign of greatness, as so many have decided here.

Be happy all you'd like, but to simply make the assumption that the next step is inevitable is absurdity. We aren't playing a brand of basketball that wins big things right now. We are benefitting from a weak SEC. This overstating the level of improvement. Our claims to greatness are hollow. Let's win something of worth before we decide our guy hung the moon. Our contentment removing the heat from the coach hasn't prove very helpful this season. Prior to this year, he had a hunger. That faded some this year. The team's lack of urgency was very telling. Our excuses about their youth have been equally telling.

You really want to brag about a worthless conf tourney title in the worst major conference in the country. Last season's reg season title was much more valuable and is our greatest achievement in years.

Why do you need my view to change? Do our hollow accomplishments feel better if we're all overly proud of them?

My Daddy always told me not to argue with an Idiot. I'm afraid I disappointed him tonight.

That's probably the best way for you to end this. Drop the pretense of basketball discussion and pretend you're smarter than I am. The pattern of utter delusion holds.

BigPapVol-
I apologize. My comments were low blows and I am sorry for them. You are entitled to your opinion, and time will tell whither either of us are right. But I had no right to lower the discussion to name calling for a fellow Vol. Pappy Van Winkle is a wicked man.

I can respect that view BPV. However, if we are to win something before we decide our guy hung the moon, then you should also give Pearl ample time to accomplish that "next level" you refer to before making denigrating comments about his being an inferior coach and rendering his accomplishments to date as utterly meaningless and insignificant.

I think u'r dad was right........You have great points, but there is no way to convince a fool of sound logic......WE all know Pearl is the MAN!!

Can't stop the Haters, though........:eek:lol:
