Actually, CBP ALWAYS sais that this was going to be a very tough year. Having so many "green horns" in critical positions and with a schedule that gets you an absolute dance ticket with 19 wins. I think we've done a great job. And, for once in his tenure, they have a chace to peak at the right time instead of a month early. BP directly addressed the hype and never backed ouy of his assesments.

Apparently there are some posters on here who do not remember the BB teams of the early 90's up to now. The best coach we have had since Don Devoe is Bruce Pearl. The fans who thought we were going to be a great team are the ones crying like babies this year and are the ones who are critical of the coach. Bruce Pearl said at the beginning of the season he felt this team would be doing good to get a #9 seed in the NCAA and fans thought he was blowing smoke.

It has been a dificult season for Vol Fans given the way the football season went and even the Lady Vols this year have shown their youth. Our BB team can only be as good as the players who are playing the way they have been coached. How many times did Woolrich come in early in the season and fire 3 pt shots with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. Pearl got his message to him by sitting him on the bench and he hardly sees playing time.

This era with the BB program is the best I have seen in my 40 yrs of following the Vols. Pearl is 7 out of 8 against the Gators who have won 2 NC's during his time on the hill. I suppose some would think as much as he is getting paid he should be able to take some heat. As it ever dawned on you that it is not the heat, but the lack of respect he is getting for turning the program around. If the whiners run off Pearl the whole country will look at us like we are idiots. Say goodbye to NCAA tourneys, SEC titles and hello to 8/22, 10/20, 15/15 teams.

Yeah, because it takes a future Hall of Famer to get UT to the NCAA Tournament. Wait a second. Jerry Green did what four straight years? Nevermind.

I understand the disappointment with the stellar recruiting class and juco transfers, but I know another reason people are in a tizzy is midway through the steaming pile of poo that was out football season, I heard countless people saying "well, at least basketball season is coming up, we should be awesome!" Perhaps ignorant, but if you say something a lot of times, it starts to become true in your mind.

Let me make a couple million a year and people can get on my A$$ all they want! It comes with the territory if your going to be a coach.

We lost, Lofton, Smith (2), and Crews all at the same time. Now Crews and Ramar to some, were replaceable, but they did log a lot of time. We had a large turnover this year, even with the amount of "talent" we brought in. I do not think that this team, right now, fits the mold of of the last teams Bruce has had. Bruce seem to let it play out longer than maybe he should, realizing that this team could not play the same style. They have played their best ball over the past few weeks, it looks like they are making steps in the right direction.

Guard play has been the biggest problem, see Lofton and Smith.

I really dont care what anyone says...Coach Bruce Pearl is easily one of THE BEST COACHES IN THE NATION. I think UT fans need to take a look around and see how fortunate we are to have a coach like we have. Pearl has more passion then any one coach in college. Last year when he come out in the student section with his shirt off to support the lady vols is a prime example. You dont see Coach K or roy williams doin that. Pearl has impacted this program at so many levels. From the promotion standpoint to the ranking of this team. Tennessee basketball is on the rise and it will continue to rise with an already stellar class in 2010. Pearl is a winner. He's been a winner every single place he has coached at. It's stupid for one to think that people are calling him out just because we lost ten games. We lost two of the most prolific scorers UT has had in decades in Smith and Lofton. I got news...we won the SEC east. We are the #1 seed in the SEC tournament. We will be a 6 or 7 seed in the tournament. CBP has made this university more in 3 years then any coach has the past ten years. Attendance is top 3 in the nation. I really feel like we should thank bruce pearl, not bash him. BEAT BAMA TONIGHT!!!! go vols....go coach pearl!!!

Pearl is one of the best coaches in the nation because he took his shirt off during a LV game while he was in the student section cheering. Hard to argue with that.

And it depends on what your definition of one of the best coaches in the nation is? Top 25? Probably would sneak in there.
