That is the concern people need to have with Arkansas. They have shown in the past(BP) they will pay top SEC money for a coach. UT has never shown they would. People on here seem to think we will, but they also thought UT was beating Bama in the SEC title game this year. Hatcher, Ramsey, Turman, and Henry were all sure Vols as well if you ask the guys on here. Maybe UT will spend the cash this time. I will believe it when I see it.

I'd be willing to bet that they're having this same discussion over there right now, too. It's hard to believe anything until the ink dries on this one.

Not sure I understand this. Saban makes 5.3 million. IF the rumors are correct Gruden was asking UT for 5 million. Arkansas could offer just 400 grand more and make him the highest paid in the SEC. I seriously doubt 400 grand would be a serious issue to anyone in the SEC looking for a new coach. JMO

I think one thing people forget is that Jon and Peyton have some sort of relationship. He has worked the Manning camps as recently as this last spring. I do not think he would string us along then leave us at the alter. I for sure don't think he would spurn us for Arky. JMO

Which is worse, getting our butts kicked by Vandy or losing Gruden to Arkansas....Ugh. Talk about kicking us when we are down!

Honestly I could care less. I don't want Gruden. I prefer a Petersen, Patterson-type coach. I don't think Gruden would work, but I wouldn't mind being wrong on this one.

What could be interesting is he's got to respond. Give a reason for not taking the job. He may say I'm happy as a broadcaster. Then we can move on.

He's not going there just like he is not coming here. Please stop wasting your time thinking otherwise. This is a huge turning point in our program and we need the best possible hire for our situation, not a pipe dream.

I don't know (and neither does anyone else) where he is going, but reading this reminds me of how delusional OUR own fan base can be. We just assume that we are going to win every game, get every recruit, and every coach in the world is dying to move to Knoxville

Look on the bright side, if they don't get him that means we're still in the race. This is sorta a blessing disguise.
