Arkansas rumors

I dunno. I just can't see Gruden being a long term college coach. He has enough money to do what he wants. Maybe we need somebody like Pellini who is good, and most likely would stay a long time (provided of course that he can win).

Arkansas is saying they will pay him more than Saban. They are making it public. Those saying Gruden to UT is a done deal, may have been just hoping. If Arkansas is willing to pony up the 4 million for his staff as well, I could see him going to Fayetteville. Arkansas has shown they will pay good money for a coach. UT has not.

... (myknoxnews@knoxnews.com -) Reports: Arkansas has made a coaching offer to ESPN's Jon Gruden m.govolsxtra.com TXT STOP to opt-out

He can't go to Arkansas. He signed an MOU with UT and also agreed on something like a $41M 8 year deal. He is going to be announced as JGHFCOTUT in a few weeks...so we know the offer from AR will be soundly rejected. :salute:

So he was asking for 5 million a year and we gave him 6+. Sounds reasonable.

I think if Hart doesn't get Gruden... Hart himself will be on the Hotseat... The Vol Nation has spoken... It's Gruden or heads will roll.

Guys....its Arkansas. Is anyone actually worried about this?

He may not come here, but no one is going to pick Arkansas over UT. Though I will say they've had a lot longer to make the search.

The sports monster here in the Tri-cities just had a guy on who is the producer of an affiliate radio station in Arkansas. He said he has been told the offer has been made and Arkansas is willing to make Gruden the highest paid coach in the SEC. He said he hasn't heard anything official from the University however.

If this is true, we will find out real quick if UT can afford to pay the big bucks to a guy like Gruden.

I would make Patterson & Petersen say no to 4.25 million before I paid Gruden 5.5+. They are proven on the college level. They can win with less. I know most are hell bent on Gruden at any cost, I am just not one of them.

I have a hard time visualizing Gruden going to Arkansas.

I will say, there is no way UT can match their money, unless the boosters step up to the plate.
