Around the SEC

So Vandy hammered Mizzou 7-0 in game one and Ole Miss just took a 2-1 lead over UGA in the bottom of the fourth.

4-1 Ole Miss now.

Dumb question: is it just the first day that's single elimination? I'm trying to remember for sure.

That fourth inning lasted an eternity. Good thing it's 3:00 on Tuesday afternoon and there are no other sports to flip to. Lol.

Lol

They did it to limit games played late in the tourney. Bad part is a team with 1 loss can beat and undefeated team and it still puts that team out

I gotcha. So the team from the losers bracket doesn't have to win two in the championship game anymore. When did that change?

They don't have to win 2 in their side of the bracket either

I think it's been that way since it went to 12 games

Makes sense that's when it changed.

I guess the team from the losers bracket has to win an extra game though, right?

Vandy Freshman, Patrick Raby from Farragut pitched 6 scoreless innings (2 hits) and got the win for Vandy.

Oh here's the best way I know to describe it. It's really an unfair bracket

If we win and play florida tomorrow.

Win that game and that next game puts you into winner take all semi final

After winning the florida game if we lose the next we still have a chance to get to the winner take all semi with winning the next game.

Same amount of wins either way but losing means playing 1 more game

Interesting. Thanks for looking that up Bruin.

Ole Miss just plated another run. 5-1 now in the bottom of the fifth.

No problem

Unfair for sure. Beat a team to go 2-0 in double elimination play and then they play you again and beat you and your out. Bs

It's not fair for sure but honestly it's better for those teams to move on and rest for the regional. That's why it's in place
It could make a huge difference for a team like UT (that has to win it all) say they make the finals undefeated and lose to a team they had already beaten.
I don't care about the SEC tourney championship. 2014 Vandy stunk it up in Hoover and won in Omaha. Every other year they have made the finals. IMO it should be single elimination and all 14 teams, or 8 teams double elimination.

That's what happened to UK vs UF in 2014. UK sitting pretty and undefeated and lost to a one loss UF team who went on to play in the finals. Was so glad to see LSU beat them cause it was crap they were there to begin with
