The SEC is forcing the committee to cry uncle. Four national seeds for one conference has never happened before, but with Vandys win it may be a certainty. If the committee has to pick between Carolina and Vandy, they may now pick Vandy as VU won their series. But if the title game ends up being Vandy and either Carolina or ole miss, you might even have to consider five.

A&M has to be a lock. They took 2 of 3 from South Carolina, Ole Miss, LSU and Vandy. They swept Miss State.

Florida has to be a lock. They took 2 of 3 from Vandy and Miami. They split with South Carolina. They swept 3 games from Texas A&M and Florida State. They lost 2 of 3 to Mississippi State and LSU

Miss State took 2 of 3 from Ole Miss, Vandy, Florida, and LSU. They were swept by Texas A&M

Carolina split with Florida. Lost 2 of 3 to Clemson, A&M, and Vandy. They swept Ole Miss.

Vandy lost 2 of 3 to Texas A&M, Florida, LSU and Mississippi State. They took 2 of 3 from South Carolina

AM, UF and State i would think are all locks based on overall resume. Carolina if they win the SECT is probably in and possibly just for making the championship game.

I don't see a case to be made for Vandy or Ole Miss. The tournament should not carry enough weight to offset finishing 6th and 7th in the regular season. Actually I can make a case for them because I think the league is that tough.

This might be interesting

@matthewcstevens: Fmr. Auburn baseball coach Sunny Golloway is alleging 5 counts of violations against Auburn athletics….

I agree about Miss State. Forgot to mention them as a lock.

IMO, Vandy and Carolina just don't have enough series wins against their top opponents.

Last night in the Miss. st. game the announcers said state had 17 pitchers that could all throw 90mph plus. It sure would be nice to get those kinds of arms in Knoxville.

Think I saw them all during session 3, which began Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. & ended at 2:48 a.m.(EDT) Thursday! Final game between LSU& FL amazing! YEP, it's the pitching! :hi:

It would be only if they know how to pitch. As we saw in the LSU game, a flat 94 mph fast ball right down the middle of the plate goes a L-O-N-G way when a decent SEC batter sees it. I will take someone that can hit spots, change speeds and have movement, all day long over a power arm that has a weak off speed pitch and no movement on his FB.

Ahh. Yes, tis true. However, you can teach a pitcher how to change his grip and get some movement on his FB, how to throw change up and a workable slider. Not many ways to teach someone how to throw a 95 mph fastball.

We should see how this works over the next couple of years. We have about 4 more Hunter Martin type pitchers coming in next season who throw low to mid 90s. Hope they can develop some off speed stuff and get some movement.

It is somewhat disconcerting that Martin was better when he got to UT than he is now.
