Astro Dobbs

It was fun while it lasted. I like Dobbs a lot. I don't know if the defenses caught up or what but man he's had a terrible go at it recently.

THIS^ NFL players are all great film studiers, if not they don't stay in the league. So you can fool them once but once they have film, that's when the real stats show. I think he can still get a few gigs as an emergency backup that does his due diligence on preparing for the game.
His long release has always been a problem and almost every time he overthrows or late, he makes a big windup. Coaches on both sides see it and can easily scheme for it and to create situations to force him to do it: basic pro football. Too bad for him as a starter, but it is what it is. Same thing will happen to Joe Milton.

Well Dobbs cannot say he never got a fair shake from the NFL. He had Arizona and Minn give him a starters chance. He was not surrounded by much talent at Arizona but the Vikings do have a lot and he still flamed out. I was hoping he had made it at Minn but once the D's adjusted to his stye it was over.

On to Astronaut school now. Not a bad way to end your FB career. And I'm sure his bank account is very healthy.

He will still have an insane career as a serviceable backup. His playing days are not numbered. This year just showed he can handle a game or two while the starter is out.

Seems like he has a good 5-6 years left where he could be a "slash" type player, put him in for some plays to keep the defense guessing and he can make some plays.

Hopefully. At his age unlikely, unless someone like Andy Reid comes calling. I hope he gets a backup gig at one of the better organizations.

I said it elsewhere: Josh is never going to be consistently successful as a standard dropback quarterback nor if running is the safety valve. The legs have to be a primary option. And I don't mean designed runs. It has to be: read, read, escape. Or even read, escape. Rarely a third read; never a fourth read. That's what McConnell did with him to start with; then he reverted back to HIS offense, which works with Cousins, but takes away everything Josh brings.

This guy's take is pretty much the same as mine.

When the Steelers drafted him I was hopeful that’s use him like Slash and Randle El

I get that he wasn’t great these last few weeks, but demoting him to 3rd string and/or feeling the need to announce that he is 3rd string now feels a bit harsh. He won them 2 games they probably wouldn’t have won otherwise when he first arrived.

Hate this ending for him.

Vikings O line is weak as water with a bad case of CBS (cant block ****).

Im glad Dobbs aint out there running for his ever-loving life and hope he goes somewhere with a decent line next.

Every QB they rolled out got injured. It was just a matter of time before Dobbs got it too.

Yup. As a fan of his wanting him to succeed as a QB, it’s tough. He essentially got 15 straight starts this year and last, to prove himself, and he’s now back where he’s always been before that streak started.

I feel like he’s shown enough to remain the league for another 2-4 years…he’ll be on year 7 next year which means he’ll make at least 1.65M which is the veteran minimum…let’s say he only makes it two more years…that puts his career total at just over 10M…I’m sure he’s been smart with it so he’ll go into his AE career with several million in net worth…that’s a pretty successful career IMO

I'm pretty sure the announcement was pretty standard, they usually announce the depth chart for every team. In fact it may be a requirement.

This is year 7 for him, he started in 2017.
