At least 14 dead at Dark Night premiere in Colorado

If I understand correctly, he walked in with a ticket in black clothes, red hair... the joker.

after entering theater and movie starts, he goes out exit to his car, propping exit door. He suits up and re enters thru exit.... tear gas and shooting commence.

At movie theathers I have been to it says an alarm will sound if the exit door opens :ermm: BTW that isnt correct Joker costume is it ? Didnt he have green hair ?

Having said that we KNOW that there was only one armed person there and he was the bad guy. I don't like those odds.

We don't know If or how many there had hand guns concealed. If someone did have one they are probably not going to try and take on a guy that has an AR-15 with small firearm unless they can get the jump on the guy at point blank range.

just how big a gun do you think an AR-15 is?

This is why we should be allowed to conceal carry at theaters

If people had been carrying in the theater, they would've been just as likely to shoot a 14 year old kid in the first row as they were the shooter with the darkness, smoke and confusion. It was much easier for the shooter because he was just shooting at random. Besides, what happens if three people pull their guns to shoot down the guy and, in the confusion, think the others are accomplices?

I always shake my head at the idea that more guns in a situation somehow makes things safer. Yeah, you could take out the shooter before they kill more people, but the chance is just as great that having a bunch of people carrying will create more problems.

I see a lot of wannabee Charles Bronsons today, though, thinking they would've taken the guy out given the opportunity. In the chaos of a smoky theater at midnight with people scattering and screaming everywhere, I find it hard to believe.

People only need notice the boldened to realize what follows is conjecture. Nothing wrong with that but don't think of it as anything more than that.

Not in GA or SC. Depends on the state laws, but I would be willing to bet you can't in most

Not sure if theaters have special rules but generally a business must be correctly posted and most do not post correctly. We usually go to the drive in when we go to the movies and Ive always carried there. I really don't pay much attention to whether a place is posted or not. Id rather deal with explaining why I had it than be dead.

You're overreacting. Even if we didn't have violence in entertainment, we would still have deranged people that would commit violence.

Sure, he may just walk into a mall and start shooting rather than dressing up like a super villain and throwing teargas. Either way, this kid was going to kill.

You underreacting is exactly the problem. Trying to brush it off as an isolated incident and sticking your head in the sand when incident after incident occurs is the very core problem with people your age, and people in general today. Hate that such a wussified generation is going to run everything down that people took lifetimes to built. Grow up and open up your eyes kid!

I'm sure you do and the scenario you describe is a possibility but I am a firm believer that law abiding citizens carrying IS a deterrent to crime. if you don't think so look at the crime rate in Chicago since they have banned carrying.

The thing is that this is probably nothing new. The only difference is that with the absurd amount of media out there, crazy incidents in the even most remote reaches of the globe are now going to be worldwide headlines. That simply wasn't the case 100 years ago. 100 years ago, I imagine it would be possible for a town psycho such as this guy to go out and murder a few people, and nobody outside of a small radius around the town would likely ever know about it. Violent crime is nothing new, the way it is broadcast on an endless loop all over the country is.

This has to be a joke.

It was in the GA and SC gun laws. Just like you can't bring them to a sporting event

The Democrats(and Obama) are gonna eat this up. They'll just use it to fuel the fire for more gun control laws

Did they get the shooter?

They have him. They keep saying something about not being able to get into his apt. because it's got bombs in it or something. Just got home and have really only heard a little bit about it. Prayers for the people hurt and the families of the victims. Sadly , I'm not shocked at anything anymore.
