It really has been different to watch Gonzalez move guys in and out of the lineup, up and down in the batting order, etc. over the last few weeks. The contrast with Bobby Cox could not be sharper. There's absolutely no indication that there's any overarching plan at all.

I actually can understand that one. He put a guy out there that could score on anything in a gap.

But with 2 outs and a guy hitting .240 up. The likelihood that there was going to be a gapper that Richardson's speed would make a difference on was what, three percent? Nowhere near worth taking a guy with three hits out of a tie game for.
