No way I want Delgado and Teheran both on the postseason roster if I can possibly avoid it.
I'm not sure either of them makes it.

Right now I'd say that for the 1st round it will be (if they go with 12 pitchers):

Hudson
Beachy
Hanson
Lowe
Minor
Moylan
Sherrill
Martinez
Vizcaino
O'Flaherty
Venters
Kimbrel

And if they go with 11 for the short series, I guess Minor would be the odd man out.

DOB tweeted today that Sherrill isn't close to being ready, and may not get back this season. That's also where Medlen figures in, good numbers (or at least better numbers) against LH than the other middle/long relief options.

Ouch, while shaky at times Sherrill has been pretty effective throughout the season. With an ERA nearly below 3, we need him for middle inning relief.

Nearly below 3? That's not too good for a relief pitcher IMO.

That equates to one earned run every three innings, sort of a benchmark. While it's not the only indicator of a pitcher's ability, it's still a solid number. We get spoiled looking at the numbers of Kimbrel, Venters, and O'Flaherty.

ERA is pretty much worthless when evaluating a relief pitcher since the sample size is limited. A bad inning here or there can greatly skew the stat.

Absolutely. They are playing like crap.

The had a bad stretch. They have won two straight. Major overreaction. It happens during the season. You realize we start four rookies out of six and then have a 9-14 pitcher?

In the postgame Lowe is describing his start as "completely noncompetitive from the first pitch".

What's he gonna say? "I had great stuff, but they were just getting lucky by swinging blindly and ripping every pitch." HEH

Or, "I gotta be honest guys... I had a few too many drinks last night, and not feeling all that great. We'll get 'em next time."

Can't wait till Derek Lowe gives up two home runs to Ryan Braun in Game 3.

We'll be fine. I'm still 95% confident we will win the WC.

I certainly hope so but this team has seemingly run out of steam and fight. They are in free-fall mode. Losing to a hapless Mets team like last night, that's just ridiculous with what's at stake.

Down to 3 1/2 games now. I don't think I'm overreacting a bit.

Oh yeah. Stick a fork in em. They are done.

Hudson went out there and I hope the entire pitching staff took notes on how to pitch. Champion performance.

We're in. After a day like today in football, you've got to appreciate the leisurely pace of the baseball season. You lose, you get 'em tomorrow. Six months of that! Yeah the playoffs are pretty frantic, but at least with baseball you have time to actually just enjoy rooting for you team without being on pins and needles.
