In a more general sense, I've wondered where the leadership for this team would come from when Chipper goes. I think Uggla can be that guy, especially with Fredi as the skipper, but before Uggla it had to be Chipper. I think McCann may be too nice and I worry about his durability.

I think it's easier to hold guys accountable when you're the most consistent player on the team.

McCann is completely capable of being a clubhouse leader. And he's by far the most consistent everyday player on the team.

But at least publicly, team leadership is going to be sort of beside the point as long as Fredi is running the team. He sucks most of that into himself. He's the anti-Bobby Cox.

Of course you would. But the organization has made the decision to let this happen. The organization gave him this deal and I do not fault him for taking the deal.

I would love that situation. But since we are cash strapped that's not going to happen. Chipper is still a productive hitter. So he is still going to get playing time.

And yes, Chipper is my all time favorite player. But I do understand his faults.

The only fault of his that I really care about is that, from roughly 2005-2008, he was one of the best hitters in the league and he just would flat-out not give it a go if he wasn't feeling it one night because of one injury or another. He'd have 10 hits against the Pirates from Tuesday-Thursday, he'd sit out a whole critical weekend series against the Mets because something was sore, and then he'd have 9 hits against the Nationals from Monday-Wednesday. Repeatedly. He had no conscience about which games he'd sit out. I was nothing but a fan of his until then but that ruined it.

The only reason I get annoyed about him running his mouth now is because I still so vividly remember him repeatedly letting his team down then. Remember Smoltz calling him out for it?

Anyway, let's hope he plays 150 reasonably productive games this year and it's all a moot point. We're married to him for another year at least.

I very much remember that..he still does it too. He routinely dodges halladay, lincecum, kershaw, etc.

I don't have a problem with him being open or honest, but I've never heard own a mistake. He's the first one to say "well the offense is struggling but the top of the order isn't getting on base" or "we had right there but couldn't make that big pitch" .. He always throws people under the bus besides himself. While he doesn't name names, except in the Heyward injury instance last year, there's only 9 innings played. It's blatantly obvious who he referring to, and it's never chipper.

On a postive note, Mike Minor is flat out dominating. They say he looks fantastic this year.

I have never seen Mike so focused as this last offseason and I have been watching him pitch since he was a freshman in high school. I fully expect him to have a really good year. Mike has always been the guy excluding his freshman year at Vandy with David Price, Teheran and Delgado and Vizcaino are really pushing him. He knows he better produce now or his days as a Brave are limited

Totally disagree. He has always said things like "I got to get it going" or "as the #3 hitter I have to drive in more runs".

I haven't seen him pitch, but they said he's much more focused and is limiting his pitch count, being smarter.

We must be reading different postgame quotes every game but more power to him if he says that.

If/when the situation presents itself and Chipper gets hurt, what probability is there that Prado goes to 3rd and Terd comes up to play left? I mean is Terd even remotely ready to play in the bigs on any sort of sustained level?

Terdo ain't walking thru that door anytime soon.. He hasn't played a game above A. If he cuts down on errors and pounds the gaps, expect him to hit AAA around the break, then possibly a September call up when the rosters expand

Harper probably needs to cut down on the try to hit every ball 9000 feet approach.

Chad Tracy can teach him how.

Tracy got that one.. I really see myself seriously disliking Harper. Kids a punk.

Not even worth having the discussion. If he were in your farm system, you would slurp him endlessly. Don't understand the punk thing.

He's gonna get the LeBron 'do everything perfectly or you aren't any good' treatment a lot during his career, I have a feeling.
