Perez missed a start out of the blue because, while driving to the ballpark, he somehow got on the Perimeter and then spent hours driving in a loop around the city looking for the stadium. Which is not off the Perimeter at all.

He incited arguably the worst/greatest brawl in baseball history by A) beaning Alan Wiggins on the first pitch of the game because he didn't like the way that Wiggins had bunted the night before when the Padres had a big lead, and then B) brandishing his bat as a weapon when the Padres threw at him later in the game.

I spent two years trying to convince myself that Perez was eventually going to get his head figured out and become one of the best pitchers in the NL. Then he went and shat all over it by going 1-13. I loved that guy.

So Chipper can't play a day game after a night game. Then he can't play a game after flying across the country on a plane. Great job by Wren to back him up with a collection of 25th men.

It almost doesn't matter how well Chipper hits when he's in there. The team probably would have been better off if he'd just retired last November and forced them to make a significant move.
