I understand what you're saying. Trust me I do.

I also have noticed lately though that some ADs have started to learn some hard lessons from the paths other ADs have taken.

I mean in last ten years or so, I remember at least three one-year interim coaches. Arky, Mich St, and Ohio State. There are probably others I'm forgetting about. Of the three, Arky is the only one who did not bounce back quickly with a decent hire.

Compare that with Hammy's reach on Dooley. Turned what could have been a 3 year rebuild for a decent coach into a 15 year trip through the wilderness.

Coaching salaries have gotten to the point now where you basically can't have an utter swing and miss on a big money hire. You can look no further than our cult members down in College Station to see that.

If that were true, he would have been offered. It doesn’t make any sense that he has not been announced, unless they are waiting someone else out first. Just my gut feeling, but he seems like he thinks he isn’t going to get the call. His statements and body language don’t add up to a guy who is weighing his options. He legit doesn’t know if they are choosing him in my opinion.

Per the reporter in Starkville, he has and it’s a done deal lol. I still think that reporter ran that tweet more so as a MSU fan than “breaking” the news. Haha

Not sure if you remember when Scott Frost was announced at Nebraska, it was with 3-5 minutes left in UCF’s conference title game and he had such an awkward post game interview on the field after the handshake about it when the reporter said reports were coming out. I fully expected the same to happen with Kiffin last night based on that reporter.

Either that reporter got duped or he was trying to mess with Ole Miss before a rivalry game. You don’t say “Kiffin to Auburn is happening” as a reporter and get called out by the coach directly and just wipe it off no big deal. I noticed he backpedaled today saying it’s Kiffin or Freeze now.

Maybe but if true, his statements are blatant lies. I don’t think very highly of Kiffin, but I don’t think even he would tell the press and his players that he plans to stay when he knows that he has an agreement in principle.

That’s the weird thing too. Like he called a team meeting to address it and then another one that he was staying and reports that he called those meetings is confirmed. If doesn’t go to Auburn, I hope he buries that reporter. Of courses seeing reporters get duped by sources always make me smile. This guy prolly thought he was gonna be first on the scene too lol

He wouldn’t be announced until after the Iron Bowl but I still think he’s an idiot if he takes the job.

Idk about that. Iron Bowl will be prime time TV and having the announcement before it is a bigger splash than after. Even if disrespectful to the interim. They did it today with Rhule and Nebraska and countless other jobs.


I will laugh my ass off if Auburn winds up hiring Cadillac.

Honestly at this point, Auburn needs to bring back Gus.... There is no winning this search... Who knows how close Kiffin was or is to taking the job, but I always thought it was a longshot.... Auburn needs an experienced head coach there to stabilize things. And the grass has proven not to be greener. And if somehow Auburn keeps Cadillac, he will last about as long as Harsin did.

As I said previously, the last couple years Kiffin has talked about his family publicly more and more since he got to Oxford since his kids stay and go to school in Oxford and his daughters are likely to be enrolling at Ole Miss too.

If little Nicky Saban was a wise man, he would throw today's game. That would YellaWood to hire Cadillac. Aubie would be a hot mess for another 5+ years.

i give it 75% chance his family talked him into not trading down Oxford to Auburn and about 25% chance Lane turned it down to make Jon Sokoloff look like an idiot
