I found the quote you referenced on the Rivals Main Board. They were not my words, which is why I "quoted" the remarks.

I have no inside information on Phillips but if I remember correctly the day after his visit here he said "I am committed to Tennessee but I am going to take my visits. I talked to coach about it and he said go ahead and take them have fun with it". Obviously when he was quoted as saying I'm committed but that will change on nsd it was very concerning. Maybe he meant "it will change on nsd when I sign my loi". Who knows but he certainly sounded pretty solid after his visit.

Yeah Rivals says that Aubrey Phillips commited 2/3 to FSU. So I guess he's not coming to UT.

He committed to the coaches last night and somehow it got out.

BTW, the source of the Marlon Walls at Phillips' house rumor was Tennstud. Just in case some of you was looking to use him as a legitimate source sometime in the future. The guy just posts whatever without verifying it or getting it from a trusted source. He's rarely right on anything.

How do u reconcile what seems to be our staff worried about numbers - nelson, backing off thig and others - when it doesn't look like we'll be anywhere close to full?

It's a matter of numbers, but not overall numbers IMO. I think they don't want to get overloaded at one position with guys that will never play. They want to put great - not average - athletes at every level of the depth chart. Thigpen was set on being a RB. Would not have happened in Kiffin's offense. Those kinds of diminutive RB's work well in a spread, but in a pro-style, you want more of a bruiser, or a taller guy that can help you in the passing game. We have better prospects in mind at LB than Nelson and are going to be pretty full there although they still might take him and see where he fits in. They aren't going to take a guy just for the sake of taking him - he's gotta have starting potential. They are planning on having a HUGE class next year and If it comes down to taking a player that may not start or leaving a spot open for an early enrollee next year, they are going to take the latter option.

Realy classy to wish that on a kid. I just woner if the big boy realizes what kind of heat he will be practicing in.

I don't care how old he is...the way he handled his "commitment" forfeits any right he has to respect or classy well-wishes

And you're opinion of me won't effect my life any more or less from this point on than it did previously...

And apparently....being 17-18 gives you a free pass to act like a jerk and play games with people who care about where you're going...cause I get ripped every time I even hint that some of these kids are acting ridiculous
