I played football at Auburn under Chizik last year and I can guarantee you that this will be nothing. I know he wouldn't do anything like that. I'm not worried at all. They are very, very, very strict about NCAA compliance. Like if a tutor lets you borrow a pencil and you don't give it back, then it gets reported as a "gift." They also do in house random drug testing every two weeks (not by NCAA).
Don't worry about this. I think it is someone that saw the comments about Newton's father "choosing" for Cam to come here, which I think is kinda B.S. and just set up to make a good story (I can't speak on specific knowledge of that though).
Oh and I guarantee you that if Cam got any money he wouldn't be living in the kinda crappy apartment complex he is in and be using a moped as his primary mode of transportation...Unlike Bama players that magically end up with Dodge Chargers...
...don't worry, from everything I've read it looks like Kenny Rogers was trying to make a buck on Cam Newton without his knowledge. Rogers thought he was going to sign at Miss State, so he approached them pretending to represent Newton and asked for money to secure his signature. Auburn's investigation showed that Rogers had no contact with anyone at Auburn...if the Newton's were really using Rogers to "shop" Cam, then Rogers would have contacted Auburn too...which he did not.
Looks like the story is what it is... A kid being shopped and he and his family didn't have a clue... It will sell papers though..
Chizik said Cam was eligible... That should tell you all you need to know right there..
You referenced the cowbell... Cam Newton sure liked his cowbell last year at the Egg Bowl when he was ringing it. It was odd that he went from having State as his number one school during his whole recruitment and would leave the coach who originally recruited him out of high school just to go play for 8-5 Gene Chizik.
I'm sure some people still have sour grapes over him "leaving us at the alter." Speaking of... I bet ol' Rev. Cecil's alter/pulpit/sanctuary is looking mighty fine these days.
In the end, if he's innocent, then y'all will be on your way the Atlanta and this is all forgotten. If not, then the NCAA will probably make an example out of you.
masoli also just had the bad luck of being present during multiple robberies and clearly wasn't involved. lot's of extremely unlucky guys in football. sad.
That and the Heisman Campaign they ran for Woodson in 1997.I thought the reason Tennessee fans think ESPN hates them is because Fowler said that the fans were acting like "trailer park trash".
I'm okay with it. Not so often you see a corner lead his team to a national title. That being said, players like that should win it more, it shouldn't be limited to quarterbacks and running backs. I'd say more than just losing to Woodson, Manning not winning bothers Vols fans because he's better than all QB's that have won it since. That and the fact that the only player on a losing team to win and the only defensive player to win both beat out Vols.woodson deserved it over manning. no question whatsoever. you guys really need to get over it.
He said something, correct?
That and the Heisman Campaign they ran for Woodson in 1997.
By the way, can someone elaborate on what that exactly means? Just ESPN showing more of his clips or something more? I'm not old enough to remember too much from the season, but some people here seem to think it's one of the biggest screwjob in sports history.
Still think that Moss deserved it over both of them.
ESPN is about making money and making stories bigger than they are makes money and increases ratings. those here that think they had some sort of vendetta against tenn give ESPN more credit than they deserve.
