As long as he remains eligible to keep playing football, do any fans really care about academic cheating?
Never thought of that story line. Boy that would be considered a juicy story line by the national media. Any one want to make a wager on how many bad calls go these two teams way before the end of the season? :crazy::unsure: I'm sure Slive and his pocket refs won't disappoint.I want Auburn to win the iron bowl, and UF to beat USC. If only to see Cam and company destroy Meyer for running his mouth to his NYT buddy.

Auburn and LSU would both have 1 conference loss. Since LSU's loss was to Auburn, the plainsmen would own the tiebreaker.
And LSU still has a tough one on the road in Little Rock.
no if there is a tie then they will go with who is ranked higher. A couple of yrs back UT, UF and GA were tied so they picked who was ranked higher to go to SEC champ game
Jay Jacobs maintains that Newton is eligible. I could definitely be wrong, but I feel like if Auburn really had anything to worry about, they would bench him so maybe the NCAA would go easier on them.

Newton is their team. They wouldn't bench him either way. Play him and possibly win a championship that might get erased. Sit him and lose anyways.
Jaytrain's right on this. Auburn goes over LSU if they both win out, regardless of rank. I remember the three-way tie debate. There is a formula, but it can get fairly complex and escapes me at the moment.
Edit: Here's a post from another site I found -
TWO-TEAM TIE. In the event two teams are tied for a division title, the following procedure will be used in the following order:
1. Head-to-head competition between the two tied teams;
2. Records of the tied teams within the division;
3. Head-to-head competition against the team within the division with the best overall (divisional and non-divisional) Conference record, and proceeding through the division (multiple ties within the division will be broken from first to last and a tie for first place will be broken before a tie for fourth place);
Overall record against non-divisional teams;
4. Combined record against all common non-divisional teams;
5. Record against the common non-divisional team with the best overall Conference record (divisional or non-divisional) and proceeding through other common nondivisional teams based on their order of finish within their division; and
6. The tied team with the highest ranking in the Bowl Championship Series Standings following the last weekend of regular-season games shall be the divisional representative in the SEC Championship Game.

Florida's Meyer denies leaking Newton records - Yahoo! News
Urbie would NEVER do that.:whistling: Whoever did though, broke some privacy laws. Guess we'll never know.
If you think Meyer's the only person that could have leaked the cheating story, you're nuts. Everyone inside the football program and the higher-ups in the atheltics department had to have known. Students who were on the honor court would have known too. And as long as we're trying to find motivations, who else could have done it? Dan Mullen knew, and he might still be upset about losing Newton and/or looking to back up his former boss and friend! Greg McGarity knew, and his team is playing Auburn this weekend! Billy Gonzalez would have known, and LSU needs two Auburn losses to get to Atlanta! Where did those black helicopters come from?
