Auburn/Cam Newton situation (merged)

Not really sure what you mean. I think college football could definitely survive Auburn being uncompetitive and the bad publicity.

my point is college football benefits when cheaters don't get away with it and win national championships.

Well it could potentially help Florida win games. Definitely. Say this whole ordeal causes Cam to be ineligible for the SEC Championship, which Florida will most likely be facing them in. Makes that game much more winnable, which means automatic BCS birth. Which means substantially more money for the school, and probably something in his contract that gives him a bonus. May not be, but I bet it does. Don't be so naive or homer.

I don't think this whole ordeal will result in Newton missing any games, unless it's determined and ruled by the NCAA....in what amounts to warp speed in their world....that AU knew about Newton and his father getting paid and did nothing about it. If any violations were committed AU will pay later, not sooner.

Well obviously this being against the law didn't stop it from getting out, did it? Plus the fact that it was his records at Florida that got out, that CLEARLY puts the University of Florida and SOMEONE that is affiliated with them as the likely culprit for the leak. That cannot be denied, either. It has nothing with wanting to piss AU off, this whole thing has to do with someone trying to be vindictive or gain a competitive advantage.

Or possibly someone who used to be associated with the University of Florida....like perhaps UGA's AD McGarity, who plays Auburn this weekend....or MSU head coach Dan Mullen, who lost Newton to Auburn....or LSU WR coach Billy Gonzales, who is a couple AU losses from LSU making the SEC title game. If you're of the opinion that Newton could miss playing time THIS season, there are plenty of people with a vested interest in that happening.

No one here claims to know, but some people here choose to think he is the most likely person to have been behind it, especially with his ties to the two "journalists" who wrote the stories. Being connected to that wannabe Thaymel is one thing. Everyone knows Urban is in bed with that hack. But then being connected to the reporter at another media agency that leaked the grade info?? Just coincidence, I guess? Like I said, no one here says they KNOW anything, but just like you....we choose to believe what we believe. By the way, love the pot shot about bigger fish to fry after your 2 titles in 5 years. Even in a pathetic smear campaign a Florida fan can't help but point out the record of winning.

So now Meyer controls the media too? Sweet.

Look, you guys hate Meyer and I totally understand. So if it helps you feel better to think he's a bad man with bad intentions, willing to overlook federal law so a potentially Newton-less AU team can destroy the worst UF team during his tenure...then by all means be my guest.

As far as this place goes, it's better to blame that quirky rival coach who owns them.

Horseshat. If it were Richt or anybody else UT consistently wins against it would be talked about just as much here.

It's easier for a homer to come on a UT board and defend a coach who is a documented whiny biotch and a liar.

Coming from a university that's recently had whiny *****es and liars as its football coach.....without sniffing a championship of any kind.....your post rings a bit hollow.

As far as Mark Richt goes, he's about as irrelevant as it gets.

there's no such thing. Maybe you should take your useless UT bashing to a gator site. Grab LG on the way

If I've violated the rules of this place, then as a mod you're well within your rights to ban me.

Otherwise I'll continue to post.

Please. Notice nobody around here gives Meyer the respect that they do Saban. Saban takes it like a man when he loses, Meyer just cries about it, literally.

We all hate both coaches, but there is a certain amount of respect around here for Saban that most refuse to give to Meyer.

Regardless, your homerism for the guy far worse than you would ever care to admit.

My biggest problem with fans like you is you choose to completely act like your coach is a saint. Anyone who really follows this league knows Urban is just as dirty in the facets of his program as many other coaches are. No one tried to act like Lane Kiffin was a saint when he was here. We all knew he was probably cheating with his recruiting, and was a person with very little character, if any, but don't act like Urban is squeaky clean. He has a track record of questionable recruiting practices, now has plenty of smoke around him with about three different stories that have been written by media outlets over the past two seasons, and has had the worst record in the country with players getting in trouble off the field and then acting like nothing ever happened. Just because ESPN chooses to take 2 seconds to cover Dunlap's DUI last year, which got him suspended for one whole game (a joke), but spend about 40 man hours and about an hour of time over the weeks on Lane calling out Urban at a recruiting luncheon doesn't mean Urban is comparable to the pope like Florida fans want to try and make him out to be.

I see you added to your post, so I'll give you the courtesy of responding.

First off, I don't think Meyer is a saint. Anyone who's been recruited or has been close to the recruiting process knows it's a dirty business. I'm not naive enough to think Meyer is any more clean than the next guy. I think he's just damn good at it. Yay us.

Secondly, Meyer doesn't have the "worst record in the country" with players getting in trouble. That would be Mark Richt, who could probably get arrested himself and no one would care....because it's Mark Richt. Continue to believe what you want to believe though.

Finally, Lane Kiffin lied from that first booster meeting at UT until the day he left. In between that time many of you fools were drinking the Kool-Aid like it was bourbon. The media kept UT under a microscope because Kiffin was such a horrific liar and showed such disregard for NCAA rules that they HAD to. When you piss off or lie to the media, they take it personally.

Bottom line is I don't think Meyer is the saint you think WE think he is, and I know he's not the puppy killing Communist you think he is. The man wins games, and if you're completely honest with yourself, that pisses you off about the man more than anything else.

This is BS. Ask any person here who they have more respect for (Meyer/Saban) and the sum total results would be Saban by a mile.

If you never give Meyer your respect, that's fine with me.

I'm not going to bash Saban, because he's a great coach. I'll leave that to the LSU and Michigan State fans who feel about Saban the same way you feel about Meyer.

Haters gonna hate.

I missed where I ever claimed people here respect Meyer more than Saban.

You're making a point no one is arguing.

I could care less who you respect more.

And you're too dense to get the point. You claim that we are in denial about why we hate Meyer and that it is really about wins/losses. Which again, is BS.

Keep living in your homer fantasy world though.

And your BS response about Saban and who UT fans respect more had nothing to do with my post.

Yes, I'll continue to support my alma mater and its football coach. I'm guessing you'd do the same if you graduated from UT and supported your football coach.

What do you expect from a gator fan? Remember they are gods gift to football lol
