Auburn/Cam Newton situation (merged)

If that story is substantiated, Cam and possibly Auburn both already have one foot in the coffin.

I don't think Cam is really going to suffer any consequences. He will go pro after this year and I don't think anything is going to change that. He may not win the Heisman but I doubt he cares that much. Auburn is the one that will end up burning for this....and i'm ok with that. Cam will create his own problems wherever he ends up.

Lots of lofty statements in that thread... Wishful thinking there. Not that I don't want that stuff to happen, the entire university would get burned to the ground.

It certainly explains why the FBI is so interested. Could be overblown sensationalism, but very interesting nonetheless.

Cliff notes so far:

Some guy who is a Bama/SEC insider and has been extremely credible says that at some point this week (possibly today) that the NCAA and even the FBI are going create some biblical destruction on the plains, as in severe blow to the university/possibly kicked out of the SEC type stuff. Aside from pay for play, money laundering, gambling, etc.

ASAIK there has been no mention of the FBI talking to anyone connected to Auburn. They are talking to the MSU boosters though.

Still much ado about nothing going on there. Interesting questions, but baseless so far.

The only thing I can reasonably see happening at this point is that Auburn's season will be vacated at some point. When it happens is the question.

According to some, the FBI has had wire taps in place for over a year on many Big Money folks in MS and AL. They may not need to talk to them. They possibly have hundreds of hours of tapes.

So many conspiracy theories in that thread, I gave up around page 22.

At this point, I'm content to sit back and enjoy the ride.

If anybody compromised actual academic institutions, I hope they burn in hell.

If the problem is only as deep as gambling and athletic departments, then I will sit back and enjoy.

I'm in this camp. I sure as hell won't trust Bammer sources on this although they know more about cheating than just about anyone.

If Auburn bought Cam then bring down the hammer. Until the evidence emerges I'll sit back and evaluate what we know so far.

IMHO, MSU is already in some trouble for:

1. Having boosters together with coaches while talking to a recruit's parents.

2. Continuing to recruit a player after the solicitation for cash.

The FBI is talking to MSU boosters (confirmed by Bond and Bell I believe).

i bet if auburn bought off cam that there wont be any tie to the university. boosters can still get you big time penalized though.

I am just a message board reader but I can follow links. That thread is full of interesting ones. here is one The Tuskegee News

Real credible:

have looked at the tax forms covering five full years, part of one year and found that forms for 2009-10 and 2010-11 are not available.

Those forms are so complicated it would take a forensic accountant to make heads or tails of them. It’s not just money laundering, it’s more like pressure washing, steam cleaning and then dry cleaning.

The writer claims it would take a forensic accountant to understand the tax filings then in the next statement makes a claim that they show money laundering. How on earth would he know that?

If any money exchanged hands in any way in order to make cam sign with auburn, they will get the hammer.

Its usually very surprising how simple money laundering and fraud schemes are.
