Auburn/Cam Newton situation (merged)

maybe he wasn't, but if the money was sent to his dad, then you can't blame him. there are a lot of parents/family that see dollar signs. the kid prolly wld've never thought about getting $$$

your painfully naive if you think Cam knew nothing about this. Painfully naive.

it should be *you're*, but it's ok. i never said he didn't know anything about it, what i said was that he prolly wldn't have asked for anything, but yet his dad saw $$$.

And that's why he shouldn't be playing. Thanks for finally understanding.

Exactly, no way he didn't know and it shouldn't matter if he knew or not. Your going down a slippery slope when you let this go. Now all you have to do is make sure the kid denies knowing anything and make sure the money isn't traceable to the school.

They concluded that Cam was indeed "shopped around" but Cam himself didn't know about it.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha the NCAA is an embarrassment.

Bingo.

Apparently it should be ok to take money as long as you don't ask for it.

not at all, but personally when i was his age i did what my dad told me. why? bc my dad was bigger than me and he'd cld whoop my arse. most kids don't even care bout the money.

so you're telling me that if you were in that situation that you would go against what you're dad told you to do? i call bs.

I understand what you're saying, and his dad is a stupid, greedy DB. But the situation is what it is. It's a shame that Cam's collegiate career was jeopardized by his idiot father, but he's still going to make money in the NFL. And hopefully Cecil will get what he deserves.

I can't wait for USC apologists to explode, claiming that this is no different than the Reggie Bush saga

If I knew it could ruin my collegiate athletic career? Yeah, I actually probably would.

He's a grown man. He should be able to make his own damn decisions.

not at all, just tired of everyone b****ing about some kid instead of his dad and the adults handing out the money
The dad may have violated Mississippi agent laws. If so, he can get his punishment at Parchman. If Cam Newton knew anything about what was happening, and considering his history as a thief and running from charges of cheating on his grades many of us are going to have a hard time believing that he didn't know about what his dad was doing, the NCAA and SEC really have only one shot left to penalize him for his actions. Anything they do after the season and BCS games will be irrelevant.

I thought anybody acting on your behalf, whether you knew it or not, constituted an agent. Thus making Newton ineligible. What have I missed here?

Auburn would have 4 or more losses without Cam... he is gone after this year so Im not stressing it. Long as it isn't Bama/UF in the spotlight.

Auburn post-Cam = Florida post-Tebow
