Auburn hires Bruce Pearl

I'm not too upset I still think we could steal him away from Auburn if we need to.

That Auburn fan base can really get pumped up, & Bruce Pearl knows that. He'll feed off the Malzone aura & I fear Auburn will become just as dynamic in bb as was Tennessee when Bruce coached in Knoxville. Well, let's gear up for a run in March Madness!

There are many on here who truly can't wrap their little minds around this. It's astounding

I have followed UT basketball since the early Devoe yrs and we have had one coach that I considered above avg.....is it possible? YES....but the odds are definitely stocked against us.

Just looked at the auburn stats... It's soooo ugly. Only 2 guys averaged 10+ ppg, one is a senior.. He gone, nobody averaged more than 6 rebounds or more than 36% from 3.

I'd wager quite a bit that he has auburn in the top 25 within 2 years. With a championship caliber football program as a background, this is going to be a super easy sell to recruits.

Just looking at Auburn's roster and who they have back next year Bruce will win 20 games and go to the NCAA tournament.

You have a ton of faith...Reality is difficult for you I see. A place holder for Tennessee. Please give me a break.

Can you imagine what his Salary will be at Auburn. Can you image the buyout. Evidently Not.

CCM will be here another year more than likely. 90%, Plus, Extension and Raise.

We will eventually have to shell out the big bucks to get a coach that makes Fans forget about Pearl but only when it is time which is still TBD.

For CCM the jury is still out I have the feeling and who knows what will happen.

When he ends up at Auburn, if they fire him we will not want him anyway.

He will go into Auburn like he did Tennessee because that is what he is paid to do. So would can assume he will never coach at Tennessee again.

Holding Place for Tennessee No Way.

I am not convinced that Bruce is getting a big time deal to be at Auburn.

Nobody said that other than him coaching in the SEC, which I said was possible after a few years.

Congrats to Auburn for getting a guy who can't recruit this summer.

Do you think that just because he can't physically go out and recruit, that his name won't be used on the recruiting trail? Recruits know he will be the coach.

Look at the returning stats from the guys bruce inherited here....not too great of a difference.....he will get the job done.

But, the NCAA will allow it for Aubbie.

Pearl will be on a type rope at Auburn. He will answer and report to the Ex NCAA compliance (Auburn employee) on everything he does or thinks about doing.

He is not going to get in trouble because he will be controlled. They may self report but when they do it will be all done before it is turned it.

Rule #1: Cheer loud and often for any athlete with 'Volunteers' across their chest, in any game and at any venue, under any circumstance

Rule #2: Always remember Rule #1

Good luck, Bruce. I'll always be a fan, but now you're a conference competitor and I wish you marginal success. Too bad you didn't wait on VT and BC.

Hahaha a journeyman back up PG that didn't even get into the NBA until about five years after he left UT.

Do you really even have a clue how hard it is to ever make an NBA roster? Especially, to play at least a whole season on one. Not many in this world do it nor out of all the guys who actually play college B ball.

I hate to be condescending about it, but you're right. It's amazing how outraged people are acting over something that just couldn't happen.

It could happen.....their was no rule stopping us from hiring him......would we? Of course not but thats our choice.

That's what Indiana thought when they hired Kelvin Sampson. No coach can be monitored around the clock.
