He didn't CHEAT period...much less ABUNDANTLY or A LOT...unless inviting a recruit to a freaking BBQ qualifies as such in your high minded state...you paragon of higher learning you. :yu:

He lied to the NCAA and told Craft's family to lie. Then he lied again. He did cheat. Quit living in denial.

I think you misunderstood my point.

Not the idea that they would appeal (we knew if he got a job this year there would be an appeal involved), but that Auburn would show up at the appeal with Bruce AND the former NCAA investigator that had Pearl 'show-caused' and request they slack off on Pearl's punishment.

Guy investigates Pearl and finds violations.

36 months later, same guy tells former employer "You know that stuff I turned in a few years back...it really wasn't as bad as I made it out to be...."

I must be the only one who remembers Martin playing Pearl to a 4 point game in Knoxville when he coached Missouri State.

over 100 impermissible phone calls and illegal benefits for families of recruits on visits. Lying to the NCAA about knowing his house wasn't his only transgression

Looking back on it, I'm not sure that Pearl wouldn't still have been hit hard even if he hadn't lied. The NCAA has the authority to consider flagrant repeated secondary violations to be major, and this wasn't Pearl's first rodeo with the 'AA, either. May not have been hit with a show-cause but they could've still imposed harsh scholarship and/or recruiting restrictions.

I guess the Bring Back Bruce bunch will root for UT during football season and for AU during basketball season

It will be very interesting next year at TBA when Auburn comes to town. When the lineups are called, who gets the loudest cheer. CBP or CCM? I bet it's not even close and I bet it's one of the largest crowds of the year.

Two returning head coaches to campus next year, Kiffin and Pearl.

This place is chock full of folks ho know nothing about coaching winning basketball. Its not stats. Its not x and o's. Its coaching kids and a team to play ball and beat the opponent.
Period. Lost on the dumbasses that talk about things they know nothing about, too often.

Didn't just lie once. Even told a family to lie. He dug his own grave. And we aren't even talking about his prior issues before coming to Tennessee.

Not me! I wanted him back but now I just hope we can afford his buyout if our HC job comes open in the future. He is easily the 3rd best coach in the SEC right now and with his enthusiasm and energy he will probably make them a top tier SEC program in no time. I'd take Shaka Smart also. Love that havoc, up tempo style of play Pearl and Smart coach.

Tubby Smith could be hired on the cheap. He did coach UK to an NCAA Championship!
