A lot of the BBB crowd is more like the stalker that a person gets a restraining order against. :yikes:

There are plenty of threads breaking down Iowa, with many posters participating in those and these. Fans can discuss the Auburn hire and still have plenty of time to make their seat on the couch tomorrow night. It's not like, as fans, we have to stay focused this week.

I fully support this team and I'm proud that they finally made the Big Dance. I'll be watching and pulling for them to advance with all my might.

In the meantime, I might watch the Pearl press conference later, just to see how the fans react to him. I probably won't. But if I do, I retain the rights to my fan card.

I would probably have a similar interest if Fulmer took another job. I still have a soft spot for that big guy.

What's the downlow on Tony Jones? I know he is along tassistant and took over while pearl was suspended. He apparently was on the plane today.

My husband got notice today that Auburn has hired Pearl. Time to get serious at UT and really play the game.i don't need to hear about basketball since for a year or more I hear about their football..

Jacobs was on the chopping block a year or two ago but has made some homerun hires this past ~year. Apart from Malzahn/Pearl, he hired Sunny Golloway away from Oklahoma to coach a flailing baseball program. Golloway is kind of a douche, but he was a proven winner and lauded as a pretty impressive pull. He also hired 2-time national championship Softball coach Clint Myers away from Arizona State last year. Both of those programs look to be on the rise.

I think the Chizik embarrassment really led to a more aggressive approach in terms of going after bigger fish. Historically, even in football, AU has been more inclined to hire upstarts and smaller-name coaches. These last few hires have been way more zealous. Even before landing Malzahn there were serious pushes made for guys like Jimbo Fisher and Bob Stoops...guys already getting paid good money at very cushy/name programs.

If Sumlin stubs his toe in a similar fashion and the admin overreacted in a similar fashion like Tenn did with Pearl, then umm yeah. I think Sumlin & Pearl are pretty good coaches and pretty good dudes.

It's not a good day to be a Tennessee fan but at the same time it could have been much worse if he had wound up at Alabama (and any school that will hire Kiffin wouldn't think twice about Pearl). I would also say that I understand where the anti-Pearl crowd is coming from. He did cause us a degree of embarrassment in 2010 over something very silly.
