Auburn hires Bruce Pearl

How many of you think Pearl with be hired by Hart away from Auburn in 2015 after Martin struggles to win 10 games next year?

If Martin only wins 10 games next, he's a much worse of a coach than I have ever thought him to be.

You're reaching man. I wanted Pearl to return just as much as the next guy. I knew the odds were not in favor of that but I held out a little hope.

It's officially over now. I knew he would coach again but I never would have guessed Auburn. Oh well.

Try to embrace the concept of being realistic. CBP is never coming back to UT. If you want to see him so much get Auburn season tickets(or UT home games with AU).

Looking back on it, I'm not sure that Pearl wouldn't still have been hit hard even if he hadn't lied. The NCAA has the authority to consider flagrant repeated secondary violations to be major, and this wasn't Pearl's first rodeo with the 'AA, either. May not have been hit with a show-cause but they could've still imposed harsh scholarship and/or recruiting restrictions.

The 100 phone calls were over a 24 month period.UCONN had an average of 700 per month over the limit for an eleven month period. Over 50 programs have turned in phone calls over the legal limit in the last 3 years and all were deemed secondary violations. Look up OSU and Oklahoma forever and you will find lots of this. The NCAA doesn't even monitor calls anymore because it was impossible to govern. You can now have kids over to your house if they have completed their junior year in HS. The violations were nothing the lying was everything.

Many Pearl haters will not see this post but I will make it nonetheless. So this goes out to you uninformed, doubting, hating, clueless posters on Volnation who were dead wrong about CBP and his job opportunities. You all know who you are and will probably never admit to being wrong about him and his coaching career.

So I will state that I was right that a university can hire a coach who is under a show cause order and that there are no "other" penalties that arise to a university who hires said coach unless that coach or university violates the terms of the "Order" in this case prohibitions against recruiting.

Moreover, those of you who said Pearl would have to go the mid-major route were also wrong. Auburn may not have a strong record of NCAA basketball, but it by no means is a mid-major job, and the $2 million salary is nothing to sneeze at either. The SEC is ripe for the picking and I am confident that Pearl will start hand picking players out of the ATL as soon as his show cause expires or is lifted by petition to the AA.

Oh I almost forget the bit about Slive not letting CBP back in the SEC...... I guess he doesn't and can't control who gets hired in the SEC. Hmmmmmm.... Interesting....

Pearl will have success at Auburn sooner than later; I only wish that UT's administration had the back bone and moxy to due what Auburn did. Pearl is and has been a winner from the beginning of his head coaching career and he will turn Auburn's program around just like he did Tennessee's. Hopefully when the UT Athletic Dept tires of CCM's lack-luster performance, they will hire a coach as good (or at least nearly as good) as Bruce Pearl.

When CBP was fired by UT, they hired a coach on the cheap who had never been to the tournament. Since then we have endured 3 years of mediocre basketball and next year will be worse.

Regardless of what some of you say, you cannot blame UT's basketball record under CCM on the fans or on CBP. The blame rests squarely on the head coach - CCM. Had CCM won 2 more games each of the last three years, the Vols would have been squarely in the NCAAT with no discussion of a play-in game. And that is all on CCM.

I say good luck to CBP; I have already purchased an Auburn visor and am on the look-out for some Auburn basketball gear. Maybe over the next 12 months CCM will get blown out and Tennessee which actually hire a better than average coach for their basketball program.

I have made my last donation to UT for my season basketball tickets and will not purchase season basketball tickets next year or until CCM is blown out and UT hires a coach worth his salt.

Hart needs to be let go regardless. We have had a joke AD for way too many years. Get Phil Fulmer in there...

Didn't say I was leaving... I will still be here.... I will be right here......Crazy isn't it.....

:loco:

It's okay as long as you don't do like some BBB folks and start rooting for AU in basketball. I can't stand the Barners

So, clearly, it can never reach those heights again, no?

Watching a good chunk of the UT fanbase today is like watching a 16 year old deal with their first break up. "SHE WAS THE ONE! THE ONLY ONE AND I'LL NEVER BE HAPPY AGAIN...."

Seeing how cheap the UT AD is, No is a good answer

Oh you can rest assured that I will be pulling for Auburn now that CBP is coaching them.

It will remain to be seen whether I will pull for UT or Auburn head-to-head; that depends on who is coaching the Vols.

Great hire for Auburn - wonder how many season tickets they sold today? 2.1 million Salary- Wow - not bad for someone who is still under a show cause - and according to alot of our fans would never get another job- Pearl will do well there - he is a sales man, a great one at that - oh yeah - we can hire someone better - we have history on our side for that one- fat chance

Auburn became relevant in basketball today in a matter of minutes.

Home run hire.
