You just proved my point once again! Playing not to lose, what does that mean? Are you referring to Josh Dobbs? If so, asking a FRESHMAN quarterback to read defenses without his best receiver (North) and throw mid to long passes in the middle of the field you are sadly mistaken! If you didn't notice, Dobbs got 2 interceptions doing just that! Because of the TALENT and DEPTH CBJ was forced to play the game the way he did, can't you see that?
No. I didn't "prove your point"... and your point has NO validity.
Look at the EXCUSE you just used. The QB was not ready to play according to what you just posted. That's coaching. They only had one WR who can make a play. That's coaching. The scheme does not get players open. That's coaching. Do you want me to go on?
So Jones is going into a shell from now on when his QB makes early mistakes? THAT IS A COACHING FLAW.
Quit whining and accept the fact we are not that good right now.
Not whining. I accept that the roster had deficiencies... NONE that excuses the loss to Vandy. That was totally on the coaches in every way, shape, and form. Jones had the better roster and was outcoached.
The way you fix it is to bring in TALENT and change the CULTURE.
You MUST develop talent... it doesn't develop itself and almost no new recruits come in ready to play without development. You don't change a culture by losing games that could have been won and getting slaughtered in games that should have been closer. Stop excusing poor coaching.
He has done an OUTSTANDING job in these two areas so far! His coaching a ability won't be known for at least two years, period. Your negativity with regards to CBJ coaching is premature.
No it isn't. I have not said he won't be successful. I have said that the coaching this year was bad. It was. Get over it. If you want to put blind faith in the prospect of him being much better and competitive than he was this year... then have at it. I want to see some kind of proof.
One final point, with all due respect to you, I put much more stock on the comments of COMMITS, CURRENT PLAYERS, AND FORMER PLAYERS than you.
People who have a vested interest in saying nice things? OK. That's fine. You may not think I am objective... but they definitely are not.
In fact, your comments detract from where we all want to be.
Really? Saying that a loss to Vandy because of coaching is unacceptable "detracts" from the day when that's no longer a concern? Saying that being totally outcoached and outclassed for much of the season is unacceptable "detracts" from "where we all want to be"? I would say that 4 blow outs, a loss to Vandy, and a near miss vs So Alabama DETRACTS far more than anything I might say here.
Again, tell me SPECIFICALLY what CBJ should do with regards to coaching Team 117 which we all agree is simply cannot beat the top tier SEC teams?
Nothing now. He blew this opportunity. He gets two more. Hopefully he won't play not to lose this weekend and avoid a few more historic lows.
Don't need to hear what he is doing wrong, SPECIFICALLY tell me what CBJ should have done to make this team SEC Champions!!!
Didn't you just lecture someone about maturity? Well stop with the ridiculous hyperbole. No one... get that through your apparently 4" skull.... NO ONE suggested that he could take this roster and win the SEC.
What could he have done to get to six or 7 wins? He could have had a back up QB ready to play in the weeks since Peterman got hurt... preferrably two. He could have had more than one WR ready to make plays in a game critical to reaching the "goal" of making a bowl game that he harped about. He could have at least started playing for next year when some of the Sr's started tanking. He could have done SOMETHING schematically to get SOMEONE open against Vandy's SLOOOOOOOWWWW secondary that was down to FOUR BACK UPS in the second half.
Let me know how much more you want.... there's plenty.
