We have some good posters here. BTO and calban handle the recruiting and do great. UTCVol doesn't post much, but he's good too. Sparty does a good job on the X's and O's. I'm by no means an expert, but I like to talk about the games and rosters. Chris and Shaun are the posivols and brings the funny. Other good posters too.

It's also much friendlier. It's smaller, it's not as big as UT football. It can get hostile after loss but usually dies down.

Well, I guess thing have changed a bit. It use to be pretty bad. I would come here very once in awhile after the game and the "post-game analysis" and threads were facepalms.

I'll have to venture out from the political forum over here to see/post if has gotten any better. Does Baker post over here?

If the athleticism is improved, that is great. At times last year he did look like he was trying to go back to high school playing against less talented guys where he could just rumble and stumble to the net.

An extra bit of athleticism may be just what he needs for the next step in his development. Don't get me wrong, I am excited for this year, but next year could be something that is Finals worth with Stokes Hubbs and Nichols.

He was also supposed to be in high school. That's probably why he did that. :)

I think this year's team (although there a lot of hypothetical situations that have to happen, like McRae lives up to his potential, Maymon's knee is fine, our bench improves, etc.) to be a Final Four team, but 13-14 looks more likely.

There were some, um, hostile posters who are no longer here. It makes it more tolerable. Plus Pearl was such a dynamic character and was a love/hate guy you got fights about it. Everyone likes Martin.

Baker doesn't come over here. Actually he hardly ever posts on the UT forums.

Nothing yet other than Coach Martin said he was happy with the performance from the Vols.

I will make two things: I think Jordan McRae lives up to his potential. I thnk he's our second leading scorer. I also think Josh Richardson will surprise some people this year. CCM has given him lots of praise this year.

True. No argument. His timetable was moved up by the early enrollment - which was awesome and the spark the team needed last year.

I like this team, but I think we may be one or two pieces away from a Finals appearance. It is doable and hopefully will happen, but I think Sweet 16 is a real possibility with our potential down low and improved play on the perimeter.

The depth is just not quite there yet IMO. I don't know if UT has enough scoring on the wings to get there. If McRae shows out this year, different story.

Yeah. Bruce was one of the most misunderstood coaches.

Reality says you're right, but hope let's me believe otherwise.

I will say that I like what Coach Martin is doing on the Hill. He recruits quietly, builds a program with tournament style play, and seems to be a high character guy. I think we are closer to something special with Martin quicker than I ever would have figured.

I'm gonna get in trouble here, but I truly believe that the Pearl fiasco was a blessing in disguise. Martin is doing great things here. I'm sure of it.

With Pearl, I felt UT had topped out a little bit. I think Martin has a chance to win championships.

Do you think we beat UK at least once? I think we do. I like how we match up against them beside against Poythress.

I loved his excitement and the excitement he brought to the program. I just thought Pearl's style of play would never lead to long tournament runs.

Do you see us as being any better at the free throw line as a team? That was one of my biggest pet peeves under Pearl and they weren't much better in Martin's first year either, hopefully they've improved. Only Golden (for the most part) was consistent from the line.

Which style? The organized chaos he brought to UT or the attempt at a half-court game which "developed" once here?

Tennessee shot 70.2%, 5th in the conference. That's not terrible. Would like that to improve though.

Neither.

His offenses were just horrible in terms of sets.

He was a great coach when he implemented his organized chaos. I followed him long before Vol fans at UWM; I was a big fan.

He was never a half-court coach. The switch over to that style was his downfall.

The organized chaos actually somewhat worked, but it was never going to carry them deep into the tourney consistently.

The half court offense was never going to work as it seemed half hearted and not truly thought out.

The switch to the half-court game, coupled with recruiting athletes (and not basketball players) that were unable to execute it, was his downfall. He was uncomfortable coaching it and the players he recruited were uncomfortable running it.

He also got a little to big for his britches. Towards the end, I really missed the humble approach he used to endear himself to the fans in his first couole seasons.

It's much friendlier due to some selective weeding-out of combative individuals that like to hear themselves talk. This board has really improved over the last 18 months or so.

ZJC...no shout out? I'm hurt...lulz

I can't believe I forgot our most reasonable poster Chris!

Please forgive me sir :hi:

I guess that created a follow up if you would be so kind. What sort of timetable is Miller looking at on the return?

Btw I am just grateful to see non-Grudooley forums for awhile. Thanks for setting this one up.

Don't expect significant minutes from miller after hes 100%, even with maymon on the bench. Q and Hall will get minutes at the 4 over him, Edwards as well...and stokes and yemi will man the 5.
