Figured that would happen... Have to stay on topic guys lol. But is it realistic Golden averages more than 5 ast a game this year?

I think I could see that. We shouldn't have to rely on his scoring as much, so I can see him dishing it out even more, especially with another off-season of PG skill development. At this point, I don't know if he averages 5 APG the whole season, but I would be a little disappointed if he doesn't average that in SEC play.

I was actually wondering if take more jump shots this season. If Richardson, Edwards, and McRae are going to be getting good minutes, I think I would expect slightly more jumpers than drives. Could be wrong though...
Wouldn't say you're wrong.
With a 4 out and 1 in, you'll see both of course.
Our rim crashers are freshman this season, so the jumper could the tool of choice this year.
But, I'm also looking at who we're recruiting in the next 2 classes.

That had as much to do with them being Kentucky, as it did with their offensive scheme...lol.

I get what you're saying but here are Martin's comments from a Nooga article.
-------------------
Martin isn’t worried about a lack of perimeter firepower.

“Look at the team that won the national championship (Kentucky),” Martin said. “How many jump shooters did they have? They had a couple guys who made threes, but they had several guys who could get the rim. They got to the free-throw line over 300 times more than their opponents.

“We want to be like that. If you have multiple guys who can penetrate and make plays, get to the free-throw line, you can score the ball like we want to do.”

Anything recent on the 6-11 260 Keanau Post Juco?

Not that I've heard, juco's are a lot tougher to track with recruiting than high school guys usually....

I'd expect Martin to monitor him through the season and possibly offer in the spring.

Just read they added 7-1 1/2 Matt Piotrowski son of Tom Piotrowski(NBA), to play beside him giving them the tallest front court in the country.
Both considered projects with a lot of upside.

I'm curious how yall match up against Mizzou. Still trying to familiarize myself with SEC teams. Any thoughts? TIA

We match up well with Mizzou. We are good defensively in the backcourt, and while Oriakhi is good, he can't handle both Stokes and Maymon (assuming he's healthy).

Yes. We get them at Rupp.

I've been saying this since the end of last year. I have a bet with my biochemistry professor (got her Doctorate at UK) that TN beats KY in rupp, and if I win I get 10 points on my first exam.

Also, I think we will have a game where McRae drops 30 or more this year. It may be against some crappy team, but I just think he'll have one night where he turns into a complete scotty hopson 2.0 and goes off on people.

Most definitely. I think he's got a great shot, especially if Jordy and Edwards can knock down the 3.

I think a couple 20 point outings are in his future.

Good defensively in the backcourt? I would venture to say that is (or was) a weakness for us. Golden and McRae really struggled last year, with quickness and effort respectively. In the frontcourt, and with Richardson on the wing, I feel good about our defense. Golden and McRae have much to prove defensively. McBee, though he tries really hard, will struggle with quicker and taller SGs. Martin will have this team playing good defense though. I have no doubt.

I just want him to have one game like Scotty had against Pitt where he shows off just how good he really can be (and then follows it up by playing that well almost every night).

The organized chaos actually somewhat worked, but it was never going to carry them deep into the tourney consistently.

The half court offense was never going to work as it seemed half hearted and not truly thought out.

Of course it worked. It is a great strategy if executed properly.

I agree with respect to the half-court strategy. It was not his forte and it almost seemed as if he was being "forced" for lack of a better word to switch to that style.

The switch to the half-court game, coupled with recruiting athletes (and not basketball players) that were unable to execute it, was his downfall. He was uncomfortable coaching it and the players he recruited were uncomfortable running it.

Part of it was that he lacked the discipline needed to execute a half-court scheme. I agree with recruiting.

He also got a little to big for his britches. Towards the end, I really missed the humble approach he used to endear himself to the fans in his first couole seasons.

I didn't care either way.

Who do you think/want to lead us in scoring? I want it to either be Jarnell or Jeronne. Just would tell me that we are actually getting them touches in the paint and they are being aggressive.

With Jerrone out and Jarnell seeing the constant double team, Golden or McRae will most likely be the scoring leaders.

I hope each of a seven man rotation averages 15 points/game.

Well you have to pick one or the other to double team and I feel like that's a good problem to have. If it is McRae I would have no complaints especially if it's from the 6th man position.

I think this year we will be with Edwards/Richardson/McRae (I know)/Cheivous.

Should have clarified my statement.

With Maymon out, McRae.

With Maymon healthy, Stokes.
