Bearden RB Devrin Young Commits to Tennessee!

I'm not trying to criticize the kid. All I'm saying is that when I look at the whole package (height, weight, speed) I'm not overly impressed. I'm not saying it was a bad pickup, I really can't make that call (I haven't seen him play). I know there are more to a player than just the numbers but that's all I have to work with.

His shuttle time was like 4.03 at that Nike camp. Pretty fast.

The quality of opponents that Bearden plays is awful.

Bearden isn't exactly a powerhouse. Their weak schedule is the only reason they have the record they do. Maryville is exposing them. But Devrin really doesn't have a chance. The blocking is horrible. Although as I type his, he's picking it up.

Yall should come down here in south GA where I live and play Camden. Camden would... whoop they ass

Remember Worley's televised game on espn where he didn't come out strong, but by the third quarter he blew up.....

I've heard that time, and at one point even quoted it myself. Then I went looking for it. I don't mean so and so says he did it but actually where an when. Well I "sorta" found it, but not really. Supposedly that took place in April of '04 at the Seahawk Classic at the UNC-Wilmington campus. The problem is that I'm now completely convinced that was a handheld time. Look at this site for NC's honor roll in track;

NCPrepTrack.com . . . 2004 North Carolina High School Track and Field Honor Roll

Note that MH is credited with a 10.64c in the 100 meter. That means a "converted" hand time. In truth, whatever he ran was fast but was not an official time accepted by, for instance, Dyestat. I'd run into this before when Coker was here and he supposedly had a 10.3 to his credit which I couldn't find at all and his state 100m title was a 10.85. It's tricky out there.

So...a 10.6? Still fast.

Maryville 21-7 at halftime. Devrin had a nice run but fumbled the ball before half.

Guess someone should look at Driskel's senior stats. I guess he's not a good QB is he? It's funny that people want to look at solely stats when Young's team is clearly outmatched by one of the state's powerhouse programs.

So you cant comment on here when he gets a TD, only when somebody bad happens. Nice to see.

One bad play or one good play does not mean anything. He should be judged for how he played the entire game. Maryville is a good measuring stick for his ability. Maryville's D is not loaded with talent but they are well coached (as always).

I would love to see Maryville play a quality team outside TN. I know they've been ranked in the top 25 nationally but you really can't judge how good they are until they play a quality team from GA, FL, etc. That would truly show how good (or bad) TN football really is.

Would love to see it too. I'm not sure why they haven't played a North Carolina school by now. They're not even a top 5 team in the state right now though.
