Got to sample nearly 40 different home brews yesterday at my first meeting with the Midstate Brew Crew, Had an awesome time, good group of guys.

Last month of my beer of the month gift, this time it lasted till mid month:

Devils Tramping Ground Tripel - Aviator Brewing Co - this is a mild Tripel. Light drinking, not bad.
Hog Wild IPA - Aviator - very good IPA. Nice citrus taste. Would do again. I need to visit these guys next time I'm in Raleigh, they are about 40 minutes South of there.

Zonker Stout - Snake River Brewing Wyoming - this was my least favorite. Been warming up to heavy and darker beers but this is what I remember stouts tasting like. Not a big fan.

Snake River Pale Ale - Snake River Brewing - Good Pale Ale. Bit on the light side.

Honker's Ale - Goose Island Brewery in Chicago area - very good ale. I remember it being more bitter back when I lived there in the '90's. This one almost had a subtle sweet after taste. This wasn't part of the tasting, buddy left it after swinging by. Finders keepers :)

GI Honkers is a great beer, seems kind of hoppy for an ESB.

I had a 2011 Double Bastard and a New Belgium/Dieu du Ciel Heavenly Feijoa Tripel. Seemed weird for a Tripel, low carbonation, slightly sour and acidic.

Was Art Whitaker there? He brews some crazy stuff. Mountain Dew Beer, Choc. chip cookie Dough, a sessionable IPA called Pliny the Toddler.

Anyone in the chatty area going to the Chattanooga craft beer festival on the 20th? It is done by rhinezome productions that produces the enbf and winter warmer here in Nashville. The wife and I are heading down to work as staff. Should be fun.

Thought would bring this up again...anyone else going? Haven't been to the venue before (First TN Pavillion) but looking forward to it.

First TN Pavillion is a nice place but not really in a great part of town. It's right next to UTC's football stadium. I am going to the O&W game so I won't be here unless they plan on having it passed about six that night.

We are staying at the Staybridge...safe enough to walk to the Pavillion?

I had planned on going to the O&W game, but they were running low on staff, so they are paying for my room and I get to drink beer for free. Win.

I am not sure where the Staybridge is, but what I really meant is there isn't a lot to do in that part of downtown. Most of the stuff to do downtown is closer to the river which is about three miles from the pavillion.

Would be hard to pass up free room and board and free beer.
