Beer (and beer pics!)

Guys, I’m very sad to report that VN poster and mid state craft beer advocate VolnTitan lost his battle with cancer this morning. You may remember him as the individual the good folks at Mantra Brewing created GooGoo Gish as a fund raiser for. Please keep his family in your prayers.

No!! Rip VolnTitan

Didn't get anything special- just got the regular lager and passed on the oatmeal stout that were in grocery stores. I asked, and the guy said everything else is always in high demand. I tried some of the local ones to Okoboji and brought the chocolate stout back. It was a fun time.

Rover Truck is just okay, nothing special. Everything else is really high demand. Even me getting stuff 3 hours away turns into a hunt.

That's crazy that you have such a tough time in state. I know there are some limited releases with a lot of breweries that are tough to get, but Toppling Goliath appears to do that with most of their beers. I know they are still a young company, and I wonder if they will consider increasing production.

I never got to try any Peace Tree, but I did try Millstream Iowa Pale Ale, which was fair. I thought Surley's Furious and Summitt's Saga were pretty good.

What an absolute downer for the day. I've had many a beer chat with him here and on BA, good dude and super knowledgeable about beer and the national beer scene. RIP VolnTitan, I will miss your posts here.:cray:

If anyone would like to give me recommendations for their favorite bar(s) in Knoxville and what to try, I'd really appreciate it. :hi:

Still my favorite beer. I don't drink very often anymore as it has a tendency to mess with me, but this is my go to.

An unfiltered IPA and a Brett Farmhouse Ale from Fieldwork in Berkeley. The brewer moved up here from San Diego where he made beer at Ballast Point & Modern Times to open this place. They have made several beers with Brettanomyces which have been really good. I like the funky barnyard characteristics Brett has, which I first knew about in wine.
