Beer (and beer pics!)

Just had Avery Mephistopheles 16.7 % stout. It's amazing and I'm buzzed

I brought back an Avery Uncle Jacob's Stout from Charleston this past summer. It was fantastic and was 17.1%.

Also have had Avery The Maharaja, which is an Imperial DIPA. It was pretty good too.

Yesterday afternoon I had a beer from a local brewery from Sarasota (Big Top). Their seasonal is called Pumpkin Stiltskin. Wow! Was is good.

While in TN, I had:

Yahoo Hop Perfect
Sweetwater IPA
Tennessee Brewworks Cutaway IPA
Bells Two Hearted IPA
Blackstone Session Player IPA

Had it on draft at Cool Beans, while not something I would normally drink, it wasn't terrible. Not the greatest compliment, but most sugary sweet beers are bad.

It's not the worst I've had by any means. Just not something I'd want to drink a 6 pack of (which is what it came in).

The local store has gotten in a bunch of Bells brews. Any recommendations? Some of them are quite pricey and I'd like to know they are worth the $$$.

Two Hearted Ale is their staple and a solid IPA. Their Doppelbock is really good- I think it's called Consecrator. Their brown ale is solid. Their other regular beers are ok, but they make some fantastic seasonal beers and annual releases. In the summer, Oberon is very popular and good. They make two of the best stouts I have ever had- Blue Note and Expedition. I especially liked Blue Note, and it came out sometime in August or September because I drank it after the UF game. I could only get one 12 oz. bottle and it was about $6. The other one that is a 5 star for me is Hopslam. It is a fantastic DIPA that is made with honey. I believe it is released in February and is usually limited.

I had their Winter Ale for the first time last night. I am not a huge wheat beer fan, but it was good. Hope this helps. If you are a member of a beer club or just see the opportunity to buy any limited releases from Bells, I would highly recommend it. I consider it one of the best breweries in the country.

Thanks! I think they have some Expedition at the store near me but i don't remember seeing the Black Note. Looking forward to the Hopslam when it is released.

Yea, sorry I referred to it as Blue Note because the label is blue. But you are correct- it's Black Note. I have only had one.
