Berry or Matthieu?

Who was better in college?

I take that back. You are that dumb. Or you've got orange glasses on. If you're gonna throw out stuff like "can't tackle well", you must've missed Berry against McCluster.

I'm guessing you think Claiborne is better than Berry, too?

Yeah - leave it to an Ohio State fan to think Jenkins had a better campaign that year - he won it Berry's sophomore season due to the team he plays for and the fact that he was a senior.

Yep had nothing to do with him locking down the other teams #1 and still making plays. I liked berry and he was very good but malcolm deserved it that year.

Buckeyes deserve lack of institutional control and Jim Tressel deserves show-clause penalty.

Would love to see Eric Berry play for a team that isn't watered down against the trashy Big 10. Living in Big 10 country and having the Big 10 network, I see every weekend how much that conference sucks.

P.s. All of Lawrence Wright's posts in this thread are stupid.

:eek:lol: idk how you can say claibore is so clearly better then mathieu that kid has made so many big plays for lsu this yr when they needed em

and you should be comparing what berry did up till his sophmore yr not how you think matheiu will do in the NFL

his sophomore year was his best year - so Berry > Mathieu still.

no he didn't - Berry had his best year that season. He had so many picks/fumble returns that year.

Claiborne will be a top notch NFL player. Mathieu will watch the NFL the same way I do.

I agree. I don't know how people can compare Mathieu and Berry and fail to mention Claiborne. Mathieu isn't close to Berry.

Claiborne is a good CB, Mathieu is just a player that makes plays. As a LSU fan, I don't want Mathieu off the field... a turnover machine... you just can't teach what he has.

As a NFL prospect, no I would not pick Mathieu high, as a college player, I take him first just for the big plays and yes even over Claiborne.

Your team would be worse.

Not at all, matter of fact they took Claiborne out in the WV game because he was getting burned and was missing tackles, I have watched every game both players have played.

Claiborne is a good solid CB but nobody makes even close as many big plays as TM, certainly not Claiborne.

Mathieu is weak in coverage and tackles poorly. Claiborne is great in coverage. Having a lockdown corner means more to your team than having a rover.

Weak in coverage, Claiborne had probably 10-12 passes caught on him just in the WV, so much so they had to go exclusively to zone in the 2nd half.

TM has had maybe 5 catches on him all year in man, actually last night he had one, it was pick play.

I watch the games, I am an LSU fan, Mathieu should never come out of the game on D or special teams. And unless they are playing Bama (Richardson), he is going to be the best player on the field.

Mathieu is the best PLAYER on LSU, the END. Signed LSU FAN. Oh but... .he is not going to make a good pro? I could give a crap.

I watch the games too - all of them and Claiborne is the best defender LSU has. The turnover machine idiocy is fodder for newspaper clowns and is primarily about fortune. Recovered fumbles is a worthless stat. Claiborne can play on any defense. Mathieu can only play on a great defense.

Sorry man, your comments are just retarded. He could start for any team in the country.

Give it up, you sound unstable. I assure you the vast vast majority of LSU fans would pick TM over any player on LSU's D.

The fumbles are not luck, he causes the fumbles than he recovers about 60% of them. If it's luck, well, like my friend use to say, "I would rather be lucky than good".

Claiborne is better. Da'Rick Rogers straight up schooled Mathieu several times and just straight up man handled him at the LOS. Then on Rogers long slant Mathieu got schooled on - he was pissed his jam didn't work and proceeded to cost his team another 20 yards by failing to strip the ball like 5 times and letting Rogers break the tackle and run for more yards.

And Mathieu would be playing against WRs comparable to Rogers in the NFL - so he would get thrown around like a rag doll on regular basis.

+1. Comparing Berry to Mathieu is pure idiocy. It's not close and it never will be.

I've watched LSU from afar, so my opinion is based on an observation from the cheap seats but the two games I've seen Mathieu play in from start to finish--both vs UT--(and possibly the Bama vs. LSU game, so three) he didn't stand out (versus UT) and when he did, he got beat to the ground like a bitsh by Rogers. Last year ('10)--I don't even remember him being on the field.

Mathieu is a great college player, but he's nowhere close to the complete player Berry was.

There's a reason why Berry played 4 positions his Jr. year....b/c he was the best at each one of them. I'd like to see Mathieu, Claiborne, or even Peterson move from FS to SS to CB to LB and excel the way Berry did.

I mean this with all sincerity--Berry is he best Volunteer I've ever seen, and I was a Freshman in Peyton's Senior year. Of course, that's just my opinion. And I mean no disrespect to Al Wilson, John Henderson, Manning, Lewis, etc. they were all "ring of honor" caliber...but Berry's talent + level of commitment + leadership + student of the game...unmatched IMHO.
