Best Concerts You've Attended

My Morning Jacket
Foster the People
Muse
The Black Keys
Lupe Fiasco
Ratatat
Rusko
The Doobie Brothers

I have to agree that MMJ probably puts in one of the best concerts that you can presently see. They play like they are still nobodies. Also, I have been considering seeing Foster the People, they were that good?

Going to see the Avett Brothers in Atlanta on NYD. I have never heard them live so hopefully its a great show

Pantera was the best.

Rammstein was the second best.

Sevendust and Slipknot were good too.

Avoid System of a Down at all costs. Only see Greenday and Blink182 if you like bad music.

I've seen Green Day on a couple of occasions and they were really good both times

They (MMJ) blew me away when I saw them. And Foster the People were fantastic. Mark Foster is a great performer. I honestly don't really listen to Pumped Up Kicks that much, but the extended remix they play live is incredible.

God, I hate that song!!

There really is no way to explain their concerts other than just saying go experience it for yourself. I have had the luxury of being from their area and have been attending their shows 2006/7. Yim Yames is probably one of the best living performer right now.

Agreed that it is over played; however, they are not a one hit band. Their CD is fantastic from song one to the last.

My thoughts exactly. The three bonus tracks are all really good as well, if anyone here hasn't heard them. I could listen to that album all day.

I posted here back in 2009, but my perspective has changed since. I have little desire to go and fight a large crowd to overpay to hear a "name" group. I would much rather listen to a local/regional band at a small venue. I know most if not all these will be unknown, but if you want to take the time to look then up on YouTube, you will not waste your time.

Flipside Runner
Bart Walker Band
Jaystorm Project
The Hooligans
Lonesome River Band
Doc Watson
Annie Robinette
Tim Stafford/Blue Highway
Carolina Chocolate Drops
Redstick Ramblers
Folk Soul Revival
Wise Old River
Trey Hensley Band
Dixie Bee Liners
Ivy Road
Wolf Creek
Cutthroat Shamrock

I'll give these a peek see. I got to see Trampled By Turtles play live here in Nashville in November. Wonderful show. First time they've played the south.

Traveled to GA last Wednesday to see TOOL. I enjoyed it. Getting ready for Chevelle again next month in Knoxville, and Mastodon also. Both Chevelle and Mastodon never disappoint.

I worked in radio for several years, so I got the opportunity to see some great shows from this POV...this isn't an example of a favorite concert, it's just the only video I had available that I took at a show.
Star Jam 2008 / Good Charlotte - YouTube

But for my favorite concerts, I'd have to go with a bunch that had nothing to do with my time in radio.

Dave Matthews always puts on a good show - I've seen them 10 times
Widespread Panic - 4/20 show in Knoxville (I thin it was 2001)
Pearl Jam - Knoxville '98
Incubus - Atlanta 2005
Steve Howe - Nashville 2005 (No vocals, just him and 8 guitars)
Daughtry - small show at Blue Cats before they were HUGE. I did get to go backstage for this one
10 Years - Blue Cats (when I knew they would be big, but nobody else did and there were 50 people there)
Live/Counting Crows - Knoxville 2000
Rage Against the Machine - Atlanta 1999
Chicago/Beach Boys - Raleigh 1996 (my first big concert)
Boyz II Men - Knoxville 2011 (I was on the very front row, and screamed like a teenage girl)

To piggyback the local music post, I'll say that I agree...except some of the bands he listed were snoozers, and I even used to book their shows. I worked with a company that managed regional acts for a while, so I went on tours with bands. I had to work as a guitar tech for a band one summer, too. That was awesome, when a crowd that had never heard them before would be singing their songs by the end of the night. I felt like I had something to do with it, though I really didn't.
