Better SEC

It is not hard to see that the win for Florida at FSU was too sweet for me.
Florida also got key late boards by relying on their freshmen in the paint. That is a good sign for their season if they can step up.

UGA at least did not embarrass against Manhattan.

Overall the SEC is not looking very good at this point in the season. UT has by far the most impressive win of any conference team.

Right now, if I had an SEC "power ranking" it would be this:

1) Vols
2) Cats
3) Gators
4) Miss St.
5) Vandy
6) UGA
7) USCe
8) Ole Miss
9) Arkanas
10) LSU
11) Alabama

12) Auburn

Not sure I would put MState ahead of Vandy at this point, but otherwise I would pretty much agree.

They haven't played great competition yet, but being undefeated without their two best players is still a good sign for them.

Heh. I might have put even one more carriage return before Auburn.

Vandy is leaning upwards, surprisingly. I didn't expect much from them this year, but they look pretty solid.

Overall the list looks about right.

Vandy will probably be in the tournament. Stallings continues to do well.

1) There is never such a thing as "Ole Miss beating Penn State is a good win." For the 2nd best team in the west to beat the 2nd worst Big Ten is in no way an accomplishment.

2) That is what happens when you don't have a good coach. You lose games you shouldn't.
If you're looking for wins like beating Penn State at home to get you into the NCAAs, it's time to start printing NIT tickets.

Pelphrey sucks. That's never going to change.

And Vandy beat North Carolina. No way in the world should Miss. State be ranked ahead of them at this point.

With UT winning the NIT, it wouldnt make sense not to place them first. However, people are blowing the UConn loss out of proportion for UK. this SEC season should be a battle.

I am actually one who thinks the UK game should be no cause for concern. You ran into a monster. It happens.

Ole Miss desperately needs to win at Miami tomorrow night. Dayton getting skulled at Cincinnati this weekend put a dent in the Rebs' profile.

Be nice for the league if LSU could beat Houston tomorrow night. The league already has one certain RPI albatross in Auburn. Alabama and LSU have to pick up the pace or they'll join that list.

Agreed. LSU should be better than last year but how much better remains to be seen. Miami is a good barometer as well.

Alabama has worse losses than almost anyone in America at this point. Grant against St. Peters is the most pathetic thing to happen this year.

It might look like a good win if they pull it off but Houston is garbage this year. They lost all of their big players and have a new coach. I doubt it will look worthy by January.

The fact Houston sucks has already been discussed here. Look at LSU's resume. Beating UH would be an accomplishment for them. For that matter, beating anyone is an accomplishment for them.

One game does not a season make. You can't get too excited about an early season win or loss.

Well we still get Houston so Im not sure who I want to win that game. I think LSU winning looks better on paper since more focus is given to non-conference wins on the road as opposed to conference wins against mediocre (at best) teams.

Rhode Island is not bad. If they beat Kansas State and Xavier, the whole loss to Ohio State will not matter in March.

Those two games hold the key to seeding for them.

I'm waiting for MikeHamiltonFan to change his name to JeremyFoley/BillyDonovanFan
