i understand, just didn't knw what everyone else thought about it. i wasn't sure if they were showing off or what

Some people I do think that they show off.

I am traditional to a certain extent. If I am with a bunch of people my age in a worship setting other then a sanctuary I tend to not be as traditional. However, in the sanctuary I am. I believe that in the sanctuary it is a place of reverence.

Take it a step further, you are the temple of God....

In the end it is just made of stone or wood.

The real temple is you!

After being raised Pentecostal, I almost fell asleep when I went to my girlfriends church. It was unbelievably boring and way too structured for my taste.

Tying in another point, she doesn't go there anymore because she felt she was being judged for getting a divorce, although they claim to be an open and affirming church.

Orginally that it was I thought...... because that is what the preacher I grew up with taught from the pulpit.

I hope this doesn't sound like I'm bashing church, because I promise I'm not, but for you guys talking about people showing off... there is no bigger place for hypocrites than church. Well, maybe politics. SOme people do that to show off, no question, then act like they're a better Christian than you because you don't. Some are really moved that way, and I have no problem with that.

I agree to a point, but trust me, it was taking sides, and the last thing my mother needed at that point.

I mentioned this about 20 pages ago.... but Christians are famous for eating their own!

anyone go to a church where during the music service there are ppl who have their hands up. i'm not sure what they are trying to do, always seemed odd to me when i'd go to a diff church and saw this

I do not judge any one that is there to worship. God can be the only one to judge the heart of the person. I think it adds "flavor" to the worship. (not that I am watching other people while i am deeeeep in my own worship)

I wear shorts, sandals and a hawaiian shirt every Sunday.

Heck I do it in the winter!

I went to college wear the girls could not wear shorts on campus except for PE or athletics.

If the guys did not wear a tie to church, they were sinning.

I am glad that I got past the "man made" ideas of what worship is.

I would think a person living during either World War had a better case than we do.

Well...its a lot closer then when I was born.

But look at the stuff that has happened in the last few years. Katrina, 9/11, the earthquakes, the floods everything. What is right has now become wrong.

I don't think there is any way to accurately determine the rapture. Revelation is one of the most interesting books of the Bible. We can't even agree who John was that wrote it. I think trying to claim events happening today are the same as those revealed in the Bible are comical because I don't feel we have the ability to make those comparisons.

On another interesting note, does anyone here believe that our deceased family, friends and whatnot are watching over us in Heaven right now?

Jesus specifically states in Matthew 24 that the rapture occurs after the tribulation.
