Maybe not a positive....but it's the truth...and sometimes the truth is what we need to hear, no matter how hard it sounds, ya know?

Would it not be a better approach to build a relationship with that person and show them christ in your life instead of telling them..... if you get to heaven...........

:dunno:

As christian we are ordered in the bible to "spread the good news", so if I get a chance to witness verbally or by example we always must be prepared to do so. As a matter of fact I often pray that God will use me to witness or testify to others and at the same time giving me the knowledge and the words to say to reach the public, and it really doesn't get much more public than this.

It is never a bad idea to know the scripture when witnessing to other but know a script is not my style, example is my choice of preaching, then build the relationship with that induvidual then introducing them into the gospel....no bible thumping going on here. But it is good to know what you are really preching to others

It is all a matter of personal preference......

:eek:k:

Yes, I could have chosen my words a little better. I am human, and I do make mistakes. If I offended anyone im sorry. I didnt mean to come across as an arrogant christian or anything. I was just trying to shed light, that maybe he needed to change his mindset. I now see I could have chosen my words more wisely..so I am sorry!;)

You have taken this WAY beyond what it meand. God controls all that HAPPENS to you. He does not control the way you choose to live your life. That's why he sent his son Jesus, to come and die for your sins. So you can ACCEPT to follow him on your own free will. If you choose not to, then you know the outcome.

and there's another issue. Every religion has their own way of getting into heaven. For Christians it's accepting Jesus but there are billions of people in the last 2k years who have never heard, and will never hear, that message. Same goes for the teachings of Islam, Judaism, etc. Did God just create those people to be cast-offs since they can never follow the rules? And if they can get to heaven without accepting Jesus then don't I have just as good a shot thru living a good life? For most in this world religion is not a choice. We treat it as such in the US but we are a very small part

Islam and Jusaism dont follow the full teachings of what Christ laid out. That he was born of virgin birth, came on this earth to die for your sins, and the only way to get to heaven is to accept him into your life and believe in what he done.

I think he is arguing, why are christians right and every one else wrong?

not only that but what happens to the people who live their whole life without hearing of Jesus? It has happened to billions. Are they just useless even though you say God created them and guides their lives?

Well I am out for the evening. It's has been an enjoyable ride today debating with all of you. I look forward to more tomorrow maybe. Have a great evening all!

If I understand Revelations correctly, when Jesus comes again, he will go into Hades and raise those who accept him.

Ok, you lost me......

I was talking about Joseph E. Johnston.

Before the Wildnerness Campaign Grant's subordinates where gawking about Lee and Grant replied that he was not worried about Lee, he was worried about Johnston.

I apologize OE, I do know who Joseph E Johnston was, I seem to have periods of complete brain fade at times. I'll tell you more via PM. Considering Johnston's lack of any real success as General of the Army of Northern VA, then later against Sherman, Grant's remark is curious. Was it a tongue in cheek type of remark?

Everyone will hear about Jesus somehow. Everyone is given a chance to either accept him or not. Show me something that tells me there are billions of people who are not given the chance?

PJ, I really don't have time to go into this, but I always read your posts and wonder why the animosity. You say you don't have a problem with Christianity, yet you come off as very argumentatitve. I don't know if something happened to you personally to make you this way; I really hope not. That being said, no one is perfect, but the Bible clearly states you can't get to Heaven on deeds alone. As far as other people not being exposed to it, it's a great question, but unless you're a member of that tribe in the rainforest that was recently discovered, chances are you've heard of Christianity. For those that aren't exposed to it, what do you think missionaries are for?

For a long time, Christians were persecuted, yet they stuck to their beliefs. I don't claim to know the answers to everything, but because I can't be perfect and have knowledge to everything doesn't make what I believe less true, it makes me human. I don't really believe the part about millions not having the chance. They may not be allowed to pratice their religion freely, but that doesn't stop people from being Christians.
