Biden gonna tax us to death

At whatever point seems right for you.
That's not that complicated of a question to answer.
Whatever society decides.

What is the fair share of your income and mine that should go to funding the military? Repaving Interstate 40? Building and staffing prisons? Funding the State Supreme Court?

You just did a great job of pointing out why the federal government needs to be scaled way, way back to it’s original scope and everything you listed minus the military left to the states to fund.

Ok, they simply didn’t want to?
I think they should be subsidized a little. I wouldn't let their kids starve or go without education.

Personally, I despise freeloaders and think the bane of societal progression is freeloaders procreating.

I was more interested in the response to the "fair share" portion of the question.
How would "fair share" be determined at the state level? What would it be?

I did answer it. I'll repost my answer for you...........

That's a lame assed answer. Stop passing the buck and give us your opinion.

And guess what, society isn't deciding it. Congress is.

answer the Thomas Sowell question.
You have to realize some people don't see your earnings as yours. Normal people see the money they work for and earn as their own to do with as they please.

Then you have some weirdos out there that believe your money is not your own. The govt can and should take what they want. What you earn is simply what the govt allows you to keep. It's not really your money. It belongs to "everyone".

I already did. I said I would not let children starve, be denied an education, go without health care, or a roof over their head.
Me either but I as a parent I also recognize much of that is my responsibility. If my child is without food I would not look to the govt first to provide

I also work hard in my local community to make sure many of those needs get addressed. I am constantly amazed that we're able to accomplish so much without any fed govt help though. We must be so super duper special and have magical methods that can't be replicated

So the elected representatives are charged with determining "fair share"....at least on the state level???

Yes and that is why our federal government which is so far removed from the citizens reality needs to be scaled back.

A California representative shouldn’t be deciding what a GA citizens fair share is.

We are in almost complete agreement.
We may view the need of a "safety net" a little differently.
I'm all for measures that decrease the need for and size of that safety net.
But that is an entirely different discussion.

We're not as far apart as it seems.
