I didnt want to say anything about Nance unless we got him... But this is a HUGE pickup. The kid was accepted at Vandy, so he's gotta be more than just smart. Smart kids don't get into Vandy, geniuses do. Plus, he has a quicker throwing motion than everybody else except maybe Simms. AND... He can run.... The kid was dusting secondaries on his highlight video. Working with Ausmus will make the kid have a laser arm. Working with Chaney, with the help of his spongy brain, will help him learn quicker... And working with Hunter, Milton, Meline, (and hopefully Rogers) for 4 years will make him the reason that more TN parents start naming their kid "Nash". I'm gonna expect alot from this kid.

Easy on that. I live 5 minutes from Vandy and know a lot of friends who went there. Genius is a bit of a stretch...smart? Absolutely, they have excellent standards for Student-Admission, but student-athlete is a different story. Mario Moore ring a bell? That kid was just a tad smarter than Chris Douglas-Roberts. And yes I know Mario Moore, played basketball against him at Antioch and hung out on several occasions (not boasting by ANY means, just proving validity). Long story short, it's easier to get in to Vandy than you think...

I think that you are slightly over-selling what it takes to get into Vandy.

The "we don't care if we play together stuff" is the biggest smokescreen I've ever seen in my life. I really think Da'Rick is coming and just wants the drama.

The drama? No. But hey, he's a young guy and he's getting a lot of attention. Look at us, look at the Dawg boards. Listen to the media, read the papers. Who wouldn't love the attention. The guy is going to be a stud in college, let him enjoy his moment

Nance is a good pick-up we need to get QB's and now we have 3 in this class, obviously we are all hoping that this means that Da"Rick Rogers is coming as well.

Equally possible that he wants to avoid the drama that would come from decommitting from UGA, and committing to the Vols, before the papers are sent in.

Believe me, drama has a negative connotation around recruiting, but this is not how I was implying it. I mainly meant that I just think this is a grand production (and a smart one) on the part of Nance and Rogers due to Rogers long-time UGA commitment. As long as he picks up that orange hat on Signing Day I'm all for letting him revel in this.

Absolutely. Given the fact that Rogers has long been a Georgia commit, whereas Nance was a VU commit, Dooley may very well have suggested: "Son, if you want to save yourself some grief from the local Bulldog contingent, keep your commitment to UT under your hat until National Signing Day."

Nash Nance = Rick Clausen? Anyone? Anyone?

This analysis is not fair. If you have not seen him play I don't think this is comparison belongs on here.

You = questionable comment? Anyone? Anyone?

Don't we have lots of stories of 2 and 3 stars that became exceptional in college.

I think that we would have loved to get Jimmy Clausen and Casey was much better than he was given credit for being. Rick should have been a backup because he simply did not have enough arm strenth. He was physically the much smaller of the 3.

If you were a 2 star QB. Would you really give up a 200,000 education at Vandy, to maybe play at Tennessee?

Valid question. Either way, his parents don't pay anything. A scholarship to UT or Vandy is the same expense to the family: $0.

foolish fool. Vandy is in the top 15 in the nation as far as universities are concerned. and the average ACT for students there is a 34...much more impressive to an employer than a UT diploma; but that does not mean you can't get a good education at UT. I just dont think that thats an opportunity you pass up if your a 2 star player. Whatever im glad to have him!!!
