Biopsy's airline gripe thread

I use them for this St.Pete/Knoxville route 2-3 times a year. Their seats are incredibly uncomfortable, but otherwise, no problems.

It's an Airbus A320, which will probably still have uncomfortable seats. I'm flying one-way down there and driving back with my girlfriend.

In July, I'm flying Allegiant from Knoxville to the smaller of Tampa's two airports. Non-stop, no checked bags, no carryons other than my car keys and iPhone. Plus, I was able to reserve an exit row seat.

Nothing to gripe about just yet, but I've heard Allegiant, as a whole, leaves a lot to be desired.
They’re not that bad. The biggest thing that you have to watch out for is if your flight gets delayed or cancelled. They don’t usually have backup planes. I was stuck in Florida once for an additional couple of days because of that.

Flying through ATL on a Friday is borderline suicide

Atlanta gets maybe the worst rap out of any airport in the country.

Yes, it is an enormous airport (the busiest in the world). Yes, they did recently have that insane incident where the entire airport lost power for about 12 hours.

Having said that, it is laid out very efficiently and you can get from one end of the airport to the other in about 15 minutes. Seven concourses, laid out parallel with each other, with a train connecting them all. Simple. The signage is good and you kind of have to try to get lost there. Assuming that the weather is OK, you get through that airport perfectly fine most of the time. I've noticed people who bash ATL generally tend to not fly that often and haven't been to many other airports. They don't see how worse it can be.

I've been to many airports, ones like DFW and Minneapolis come to mind, where the aesthetics people got a hold of the airport plans and in their effort to be creative and make the airport look cool make it unnecessarily long to get from one place to the other. Some airports appear to be laid out in the most illogical ways.

Nothing is worst than the men’s room at 7am at the airport.. everyone is “cleaning out” prior to the morning flight

I've always thought that the bathroom on the plane may be just as bad if not worse. Holding my breath while trying to pee fast can be challenging.

Never follow an old man who has a newspaper or magazine tucked under one arm leaving an airplane bathroom.... Never a pleasant smell...Toxic

Tip: When the first call goes out for special needs and/or first class boarding, that's your cue to make one more trip to the nearest restroom, whether you need to or not. May not get you through the flight but it always improves your chances if you give yourself as much free bladder capacity as possible.

Always go the family bathroom....

Flew Republic/Brickyard this morning from MEM to PHL. First time on an E175, thought it was pretty nice.

Also all of the rental car companies have a shuttle at PHL to take you from the terminal to their lots. I just walked through the garage and beat the shuttle there by at least 5 minutes.

Had to Check my bag even though their was plenty of room in the overhead due to the size of my carry on which I carry every week... Thanks Delta... Turds

I managed to dodge a bullet last Saturday when flying from Chicago to OKC.

Upgraded my seat to the comfy leg room one and was thinking of a nice nap on the way back for a couple of hours. Low and behold as I boarded, I get seated next to a mother and infant child.

Wonderful...the kid's already screaming, I think to myself and wonder how long I can sleep in the bathroom before they catch me.

We took a while to taxi as they were de-icing all the aircraft leaving and for some reason as soon as that plane was getting sprayed, the kid went sound asleep. Slept the whole way until we were pulling up to the gate in OKC.

The whole iced over wings scares the hell out of me.

This happened tonight... Fat guy with a front and back pack rotating to sit down and crashing into people and never said a word... Then asked if he could switch seat to the isle due to his back issue...

Nice. Back in November I was flying from Miami to Jacksonville on a little regional jet (through American Airlines), and this gal (who looked to be late h.s./early college age, i.e. an adult) proceeded to have a "Veruca Salt"-style meltdown because her assigned seat was not directly next to her mother's seat, it was directly behind her. The flight was booked full and the flight attendant finally offered that they could wait until the next day for the first flight out but at that point mommy dearest told her kid to get over herself, sit down, and shut up for the ~1hr the plane would be aloft. I felt like applauding the mother at that point :)

Parents that bring children on planes less than four years old should have to show proof of something that will quiet a child in the event they become unruly whether that is a bottle of formula to relieve ear pressure or benedryl. They also agree to be financially liable for the discomfort of the others on the plane if it happens. Yes, its mean and grumpy view but parents that dont take worst case into consideration are nothing but azzholes. You prepare by taking diapers on the flight, take something in case they act up and that means more than just give them an ipad (see the most recent flight from Germany to US where the kid screamed for 8 hours).

...rant over......

As a frequent flier, 140+\- flights per year, I wanted to jump in on this thread.
I will not fly southwest, it’s just terrible I’m so many levels. I hate the cattle call at boarding.
I’m amazed at how rare that there are crying / screaming kids on flights.
The whole thing about having to check a bag even if it fits. That is a frustration. Usually airlines do that because of a late boarding group. I’m weird, I always check bags.
My gripes are more about airports. Some are absolutely terrible.

Sounds like you and Biopsy should compare travel schedules, meet up in an airport bar somewhere and have a nice long booze-fueled *****fest. It would be therapeutic.
