Border Wall Thread (Merged)

But will it? And will it be significant in its effect? And will its effect be worth the money?

These are the real questions that we need to be asking, not "could it be a deterrent?" Of course it could, but that's beside the point if good government is what you're after.

I don't disagree

I find it comical how many trump lovers don't realize it's us the citizens of America who will be paying for the wall. Don't kid yourselves

I'd bet you believe that business pay taxes - some of them anyway. That somehow the taxes they pay aren't passed through to the consumer just like any other business expense.

The point is that who pays and who foots the bill aren't necessarily the same. A company can't make me pay for a plant improvement, but if I buy their product, you can bet that I just like many others will be paying that cost.

We can't force Mexico to directly pay for or build a wall, but economic disincentives can make Mexico wish it had, and offset our cost. Mexico hasn't even troubled itself with limiting the flow of people passing through from other Latin American countries - their southern border is either as porous as ours or, for all we know, Mexico may be profiting from that business. Mexico is a very corrupt place that won't amount to anything until it decides to clean itself up and leave the third world.
