I've read some statistical studies that basically blow up the typical perception of position groups importance on wins and losses. Basically, the question is what effect can be attributed to the delta in wins and losses comparing teams with similar talent who change from experienced to inexperience at key positions in CFB. If memory serves, the data seems to suggest the position with the greatest impact is kicker/punter. A team going from experience at both of those positions to inexperience trends downward almost two games below teams who do not. The position that had a startlingly insignificant change in performance from experience to inexperience was QB with about .2 games a year attributable solely to a change there.
I am all in now, but wonder how things might change if we don't make to a bowl game this season.
Not turning at all on CBJ, but excuses this season may wear thin. If we're 5-7 again, will slogans fall on deaf ears?
If he goes 5-7 for three years, I'm going out on a limb and saying his recruiting takes a hit without a legacy class to lean on.
We have to see results on the field to gauge coaching...not necessarily a set number of wins, but visible improvement on offense AND defense...extra wins would accompany those boosts in performance...I believe Negavols and Sunshinepumpers would be in agreement on this.

?If someone believes that if they don't make a bowl game next year Butch should be on the hot seat, don't know how fall the program has fell over the last 10 years..Tennessee highschool football talent is not like Fla, Ga or Ala where u can recruit in state talent and make a dramatic improvement instantly...If you change coaches every few years expect to have the same success that the University of Ky has had in the last 30 years..Please Vol Nation let's be more smarter than that

He has got to be given at least 4 years. He is a Top Flight recruiter and the SC and UGA games proved to me that he's got what it takes to coach in the SEC
what do the stats say about teams that have lost both the offensive line and the defensive line for starters ? I am going to assume it isn't very good ?
I don't know precisely, as I've not read or studied anything along those lines specifically. What I can say is that having studied overall performance in relation to talent I would say that raw talent is preferable to an experienced but less talented player. In general terms, I'll take a team of freshman four star players over a team of senior two star players if you are examining the outcome of a series of events and everything else being equal.
