If we could have Villanova or Duke somehow lose today then that would be huge. With Buddy being suspended I doubt Duke loses today sadlyMatrix updated last night, no movement as we stayed at #10 but the gap between us and Purdue at #9 closed to almost a tie and our gap between us and Wisconsin at #11 widened some.
Would definitely be great, the good news is that a win over UK would be better than anything either of those 2 could get, plus would be possible we pass UK so win 2 and I’m confident in a 2. With that said, there’s a legitimate discussion to be had about would you rather be #8 2 seed and get put in Gonzaga bracket or #9/#10 3 seed and put in Arizona or Baylor bracket? If we could have Villanova or Duke somehow lose today then that would be huge. Yeah I honestly was thinking about that, I guess it depends on if your looking forward to the Elite Eight or the Sweet Sixteen more, because if we are the #9/#10 3 seed then theoretically we would have an easier 2 seed in the sweet 16 right? But then again I know that they wouldn't put us and an SEC team in the same bracket so I know that kind of messes with thingsWould definitely be great, the good news is that a win over UK would be better than anything either of those 2 could get, plus would be possible we pass UK so win 2 and I’m confident in a 2. I think Baylor takes overall #1 if they win Big12.Would definitely be great, the good news is that a win over UK would be better than anything either of those 2 could get, plus would be possible we pass UK so win 2 and I’m confident in a 2. Good question for @golfballs on likely opponents as #8 vs. #9/#10, with UK/Auburn in the mix it gets foggy for me.Yeah I honestly was thinking about that, I guess it depends on if your looking forward to the Elite Eight or the Sweet Sixteen more, because if we are the #9/#10 3 seed then theoretically we would have an easier 2 seed in the sweet 16 right? The committee only uses the “s-curve” as a seed list for priority in placing teams and ensuring relative balance in strength. They will ensure the top 1 seed doesn't play the top 2 seed but that's about the only hard and fast rule. In 2019 we were the top 2 seed but played in the same region as the #2 overall seed.Good question for @golfballs on likely opponents as #8 vs. #9/#10, with UK/Auburn in the mix it gets foggy for me.
If we get to where it matters which 1 and 2 seed we have in our region then I’ll be happy. The committee only uses the “s-curve” as a seed list for priority in placing teams and ensuring relative balance in strength. In fact, I think it's unlikely this year that the top 3 seed would be placed with the last 2 seed since that spot will almost certainly be headed out to San Fran. If we're the 10 seed then it would depend on who the 9 is and where Auburn/Kentucky have been placed. That could theoretically put us in SF with the "worst" 2 seed.
Loyola Chicago was Top 10 in Ken Pom last year and was an 8 seed. Made the S16. Of course lost to Oregon St… but I think it’s mostly mid majors who get that kind of disrespect. I can’t see Iowa as a 6 seed. They may keep winning when move up to 4 seed so could be a moot point, but they would be favored against everyone except about 10 teams currently…getting a 6/7 seed is a crazy thought.

How about in ‘14 when we were 11th in KenPom and got an 11 seed. Nearly made an E8
Was about to say the same thing, idc who we’d meet in the E8, at that point it’s all fair game. I’m more concerned about who our 2nd round game is against mostly..Very possible, Arizona seems like the best case, but again for that to matter you’re in the E8 and playing for a F4, at that point I’ll play whoever it is.
