I had a tibia plateau fracture, and torn meniscus from about a 300lb roller falling off a machine, and bent my knee the way God didn't intend it to bend. Surgery, and crutches for 8 months, and thankfully healed up good, and didn't need screws. It was close though, and painful, I feel for Bru. I still think because of the pictures his ankle is shot also, but I hope the best for him.Looks like a proximal tibia fracture. X-ray will confirm this. If that is the diagnosis he will undergo an ORIF with a proximal tibial plate and screws.
I had a buddy rewind it, and send me pictures. I'm not saying there's nothing wrong with his knee, or leg, but his ankle was messed up. His leg does look funny around the shin also, but it's just pictures from a TV.I guess it’s possible he dislocated his knee as well. I just focused on his ankle because I had exactly the same injury. I could check the tape, but there’s really no use for that.
I’ve only seen knee dislocations in car wrecks. That’s why I figured it was proximal tib.OK, changed my mind. Just watched the video in slow motion and what I though was an abnormal knee now appears to just be the deep contour of his medial quad with a slight ext rotation of the leg. The video shows a moment from below his feet and his foot is clearly laterally displaced in comparison with his medial malleolus, which certainly would be consistent with a fracture/dislocation. Bad injury but exponentially better than my worst case first thought which was a dislocated knee. Regardless, hoping for a quick recovery, and a full recovery which I think is likely if that is all it is.
No way you could say that from simply looking at that image. It is incredibly rare for someone to have a career ending injury with today’s medical techniques. As a medical professional who works in the ER, I can tell you that break was either the Tibia bone or Femur, hard to tell without examining, but either way that kind of injury will not only end his college football playing, but it will most likely end any hope for the NFL. Very sad.
