Bruce Feldman and Tim Brando criticize the SEC's handling of LSU/Florida

Lol LSU-SIU this all day. Sankey will not allow LSU and Floridas s**t to tarness the rest of the SEC.

Florida won, one way or another. Also, you are probably under the false impression the game needs to be played, the rules specific how the divisional winner already. This game isn't holding anything up, the SEC is just making a mockery out of themselves is what is going on. Either way, if you haven't figure out Florida has schooled the SEC East I don't know what to tell ya... there is close to zero percent chance that Florida hasn't gain an advantage... and probably a very big one.

At the end of the day, schedule the LSU game without agreement on November 19th in Gainesville... LSU keeps their OOC, plays that... receives a forfeit on the Florida game. Foley has completely punked Tennessee, sorry to break it to ya.

I don't understand how UF fans can even fight this. They were hurt and didn't want to play. That's the whole story. You can't tell me they couldn't play on Sunday or Monday. Their AD had no qualms about shipping the VB team up to South Carolina on Sunday. They weren't worried about safety or their families. UF didn't want to take the L. Plain and simple.

Yep and now Foley had passed that baton to Alleva. Both institutions are/have behaved badly and the SEC commish office is just letting them do it. That's it in a nutshell

And this right here is the silver lining gift in all of this! We have discussion board and game day sign material for at least the next decade 😬

A breeze just went through jax. Florida refusing to go in a few weeks.

Just report him for trolling en masse and then the adults could discuss stuff

So, I'm trolling because I am telling you how this is going to finish up or most likely will. You should see my comments from last Wednesday, yes, last Wednesday how stupid this was.

Here is a very simplified version of what is going on. Imagine a three way telephone call between Foley, Stinkey, and Alleva, and Foley saying the following after Alleva starts the call:

"Alleva, please go away, I want you to understand I have this Volunteer in my office down on all fours and I'm about to have a good time screwing him over. I don't really need your suggests as to me not screwing him Dueling Banjos style, its just best you go away right now and let me do what have to do to this Volunteer. You see, I plan on screwing this Volunteer and I don't want to hear one word out of your pie hole suggesting I don't screw him. You Tigers just go play in the zoo.

Stinkey, now what I need your stupid ass to do is, is go to the store and buy some towels because by the time you get over here this Volunteer is going to be a mess. And you better clean it up because he got screwed because of you. Now get moving!"

We've been over this repeatedly. The decision to cancel the game, at the time, was entirely justified by the circumstances at the time.

The question now is, what do we do about it?

Of all the scenarios we've heard, each one causes someone some financial pain, that is true. But if the guarantee to South Alabama is covered, is the loss to LSU of that home game against that team the least harmful to the parties involved?

Do we screw over UGA and the City of Jacksonville? Does Florida have to switch a home game conference site? Those would be much worse financial consequences to the involved parties than the lost revenue to Baton Rouge not getting S Ala into town in mid freaking November.

I for one hope that Florida offers to share some of the revenue from a rescheduled game with LSU. Make it a formal offer. See what LSU says then.

The point you are missing is that LSU should not have to suffer any type of misfortune or damage that has resulted from Florida's decision to not host the game on Sunday or Monday. This is not a situation where Florida's nonperformance is excused by impossibility -- they had the ability to host the game on Sunday or Monday and made a decision not to. They do not have clean hands.

I agree with you that they were justified (at the time) in postponing it from Saturday. However, there was no justification for not promptly agreeing to host the game on Sunday or Monday, as was offered by LSU. When UF made the unilateral decision to not play the entire weekend (for obvious competitive reasons), they forfeited any right to force LSU to alter their schedule to their detriment in the future, which is what would be caused by LSU having to lose their home game with South Alabama.

Given Florida's conduct, I believe the only three options are:

1. Reschedule the Georgia/UF game (which would be a logistical nightmare, and also unfair to UGA).
2. Push back the Conf. title game by one week.
3. Florida is deemed to have forfeited the game due to their bad faith refusal to play the game in Gainesville on Sunday or Monday.

At this point, I believe Sankey will ultimately go with #2.

Also, I applaud the LSU AD for not caving on their Nov. 19th home date. There is no justification for Florida's bad faith actions, and the damage to LSU should not be exacerbated by forcing them to give up a home game.

No one, I repeat, no one gives a damn what you think. This game will be played, once again, whether you choose to like it or not. So nut up, quit your b******g, and accept the fact that LSU and UF are gonna play a football game.

I think UF should lose a home game and have to play LSU in Baton Rouge on the 19th. Both team would have to buy out there opponents, but that would make the situation more fair as LSU wouldn't be getting punished for UF's transgressions.

Either that or both team's take an L for the past week. I don't think we can push back the conference championship game since the next day is the CFP selection show.

Okay. You don't care what I think, problem solved.

Once again. Thank you very very much for that post. I will now quote it so you can't do your usual edit. 😬

Go ahead and quote, that is the precise situation in a simplified format. I don't condone what has happened, but this isn't complex. Getting mad at me for pointing out the obvious probably won't help. Basically you are upset, I get it, but you have point your guns in the right direction. imo Or not.

Yeah honestly I think Alleva has to try to protect it and I don't blame him for doing so. But if push comes to shove and it's SEC over OOC game he has to chose the SEC game I think or he gets reamed

He has already promised the fans a home game (Senior Night) plus its a $5m game for the school, plus $10-15m for the locals, plus then LSU would have to play 3 road SEC games in 12 days. I have no idea what they decide, I can only speculate... maybe a suggestion as to compensate LSU more will come up behind the scenes. My guess is LSU is on very solid ground, and I think its unlikely but time will tell.

Either way Florida has won something.

You don't move a decent conference game site, too much money is involved. You cancel the crap FCS teams you have coming in and reset it, and pay off their contracts, which is a pittance compared to what is at stake with the conference game.

Florida's proposed solution to do that is entirely sensible. LSU is the hold up here, pure and simple.

Nope - you move the game to Monday night.

2005 Tennessee/LSU set the precedent.

That was after Louisiana had been through Hurricanes Katrina and Rita within a month.

Rita hit on 9/24/2005

Game was played on 9/26/2005

LSU played their first game @ Arizona State even though it was supposed to be a home game.

If the make you all play during that stretch I think the Thursday game moves to Saturday.

I think LSU would agree to (or have implied) playing in Baton Rouge on November 19th against UF, I am assuming eating the buyout but take the receipts.... I think LSU loses $1.5m on this deal. I am not sure if they won't do it if the game is pushed back or not.... I mean that is alot of work.

The problem is, UF has no incentive to even consider anything, let alone this idea.

Florida won, the only way they lose is if the agree to something.

yeah, the problem here is that there are plenty of precedents already set. move the game to the visitor site, reschedule for Monday....whatever.

there's no consequence to either team for NOT playing. that in and of itself lets the implication of impropriety fester.

both LSu and FL have made this an ordeal that it shouldn't have. now it's just a pissing contest, and sankey has let that happen.

you blame? it's on all 3 at this point. early on, FL was the bad guy, in the middle, Sankey, and now LSU has stuck their head in the sand too.

here's what you do...play the game on the 19th in Gainesville and arrange for S Ala and Presby play each other in Tiger stadium. :peace2:

Been reading a lot of stuff on this in this thread and others--but this is the best answer to the issue YET!!!

IF--IF--IF.... Florida would've wanted to play the game it could've been played last night with a major TV audience and had the entire nation as the audience.

NO reason this could not have been done.....

COWARDS at Fla and POOR SEC LEADERSHIP by SANKEY! :salute:

1) Come out and say a 6-2 Tennessee gets in over a 6-1 Florida

OR

2) Tell them if they continue to refuse to reschedule it is a loss for both teams

It is not that hard folks

That's actually a great suggestion--and pay them both for their trouble.....

it is until they actually put that out there as a possible resolution. up to this point, this isn't on the table.

that's the problem. there's no consequence for NOT playing the game.
