Bruce Feldman and Tim Brando criticize the SEC's handling of LSU/Florida

The problem is you are changing the topic. We were not talking about the storm's impact, we were talking about the lack of planning done .

If talking storm impact, go talk to people in Haiti, they suffered the most. I do agree people's lives are more important than game, just stating Florida appeared to be trying to avoid a likely loss imo.

Yep that is the whole issue. In a situation like this you have to protect people. It really is a game.

However on friggin FRIDAY UF LSU are already positioning and backpedaling in how they may not be able to play they game and they BOTH put weight on OOC cupcakes later in the season instead of an important conference matchup.

It absolutely stinks of posturing and gaming the system.

And THAT is what people are absolutely pissed about.

No thanks.

Roll Tide then. I hate them more than any other team but LSU and Florida are going to replace them with this stupid attitude. Hope you guys win nothing except games against East teams. Take your no thanks and shove them you know where and then become constipated and throw it up your vile voice hole.

Irritates the hell out of me that they didn't play that game. Notre Dame and NCS played in a monsoon yesterday. Very weak on Florida's part. The commissioner needs put his foot down.

So, let me get this straight. Florida is giving up its revenue from one of its 7 home games and sacrificed their biggest recruiting weekend of the year so that.....

This particular team would have a better chance (not even close to a sure thing) of making the SEC championship game where they more than likely would get killed.

Is that it? Do I have that right?
Ist 10 seconds says it all!

The only right decision the SEC can make is to determine the Championship game participants based on percentage of wins of all 8 scheduled SEC games. Failure to accommodate the game or to reschedule should not allow a team to have a competitive advantage over the other conference teams. I don't feel like either Florida or LSU should be given a loss for the game, but neither should it benefit them in the same way a win would have.

FWIW, as a Gator fan, I think you guys can lose to Bama and still play for the SEC title. We're rebuilding our offense from years of stagnation, and I just don't see us beating every SEC team left on our sked. I mean, you saw us play.

Also, I can see where you'd be mad if we did win out and you lost one more SEC game. We'd be pissed if the situation was reversed. I'm hopeful the SEC will work something out so we play LSU on the Nov. 19. I seriously doubt they'd move the UGA game, though.

To me, football is a game played by kids that's fun to watch. The LSU game was the only good home game on our sked this year. Hope it happens.

Agreed, I think arky and uga beat you guys.

Recruiting would've been great when LSU came in and **** down UFs throat. Blessing in disguise to host recruits and not let them see the ass kicking.

You play UGA and Arky. UGA is slaw and Arky is beatable. UF absolutely punked out. Don't even try to twist this. Your program is full of cowards.
To be honest I am not sure LSU can win in Gainesville.FL shuts down LSU run game. They are in trouble because I don't think LSU can pass against them.FL will have trouble scoring also.So to say LSU is gonna kill FL is just not correct.

So 99 and LG I was reading that for the sake of safety the football game had to be cancelled however UF sent the womens volleyball team on the road to USCjr for their game? Or somewhere else still in the storm?

#womensvolleyballlivesmatter ?

Edit: yep just checked. Still scheduled to be played today in Columbia. Seems a bit inconsistent?

You cannot seriously compare these scenarios. As if now, there are STILL 400,000 without power, and that's on the coast, which was on the west side of the eye, which is weakest. Had the eye come on shore, as believed at the time, you'd have had, effectively an 80 mile wide tornado lasting three hours, with the coast on the east side of the eye, causing almost incomprehensible damage.

They cancelled a few days in advance so that people could plan accordingly. We didn't know until Friday afternoon we were in the clear. If you think it makes sense to go "oh, never mind, you 85,000 people, come on over anyway," you guys are being absolutely ridiculous.

As far as I'm concerned you're both the problem. UT is obviously going to lean harder on UF just like you would on us. You know that.

And you can rationalize and debate all you want but if UF's primary concern is safety then ALL events should be rescheduled/cancelled. Period. Or your message lacks credibility.

Do you really want to debate the scheduling difficulty of a volley ball game over a football game? That's a no brainer dude and you know it.

Both teams raced each other to see who could back peddle faster. And that weak ass Sankey let them control the message. The one clear result here is what a worthless POS he is and has no credibility right now. If he wants any credibility down the road he forces this game period.

However his weak leadership plays out it just provides a very viewable public forum where both schools look pretty damn spineless.

You only get one chance to make a first impression. And for this situation that ship has sailed.

No, you are trying to defend incompetents at best and cowardice at worst. They could have had plans in place to play the game Sunday or Monday contingent on what the storm did.

That's bull crap and you know it.

People really don't understand this situation.

It's not like a regular hurricane that was heading for a certain region and that region needed to evacuate.

It was going to hit the entire East Coast. I don't know how many people live on the East Coast of Florida, but a lot of them evacuated and did so to Central Florida and West Florida. Many were under orders to do so.

It was thought that law enforcement, national guard, etc, etc, etc. were going to be needed from West Palm Beach to Fernandina....300 miles.

If what they thought was going to happen actually happened, a lot of tis would become real easy to understand. It was going to be the worst natural disaster in the history of the state of Florida because of the swath of the damage. Hurricane Andrew may have been more devasting to South Florida than Matthew may have been to one spot, but it wasn't going to hit one spot....it was going to wipe out the whole damn East Coast.

Now, as has been pointed out a million times, picking another weekend to play the game has not been something Florida has been the one saying "no" to.

I know.

It's all an elaborate scheme to make sure Florida goes 8-3 instead of 8-4.

The athletic department is doing all it can to receive an Outback Bowl bid instead of a Belk Bowl bid.

99 and LG I really thought you were both smarter than touching this topic on Volnation. I am not trying to insult you I just am really kinda shocked that you two are on it. The occasional UF homer? Sure come on in the waters fine. But really didn't think you two would. I havent seen LW posting on it and I don't think he's "scared" I think he just damn well knows better.

Now. I'm gonna say it again. Your institutions whole damn message has zero credibility if you cherry pick situations which is EXACTLY what UF has done. If you cancel the game due to safety then absolutely no way you put the volleyball team on the bus to Columbia. Yes rescheduling a football game is a nightmare for sure however a volleyball game?! Cmon man. For safety you cancel them all. Period.

However you didn't. You cherry picked each situation and that worthless Sankey allowed BOTH schools to do it. He needs to go. Now.

The whole public debate is perception of the available information. And from that perspective both schools and the commish office are simply coming across as spineless.

If this was really a priority then Wednesday night a unified message of "For the sake of safety all events are cancelled. However all events WILL be completed by the end of the regular season. "

But they didn't do that. It's all posturing. And it makes all three institutions look spineless. It's as simple as that.

Huh. LSU really has nothing to do with this, imo.

No thanks.

You don't realize how bizarre your comments are? Let me see next you go all postal if LSU goes along with all this stupid plans and loses? LSU really doesn't owe anyone a thing on this issue.

I don't know what ultimately happens, but generally I don't think LSU should agree to anything. LSU already has a virtual L or in part.

The week off will benefit Florida more than anything to give them another week of healing . It's a very unfair advantage because injuries are a big part of sec play.
