Bruce Pearl is a better basketball coach than Kevin O'Neill

Did you not read the post? He has gone into programs that no one could have won at. This year is an example, he is taking a team with little talent to the dance. He beat Pearl with a team that had no where near the talent Pearl had---twice. If he can't coach, apparently Pearl is an extremely poor coach.

Head to head matchups aren't everything. If it were the case, Bruce is a much better coach than Billy D and is only slightly worse than Cal. See what I did there?

Had he remained at TN Pearl would not be making history with his 6th straight tourney team. His recruits at UT won four straight trips for Jerry Green, who every one agrees can't coach.

Sounds to me that he is the basketball version of Kiffin. Can recruit but cant coach!!

He is a jerk and they realize what a piece of trash he really is once he is hired. Those are the facts.

No argument that his personality has caused him to leave programs---not that he is a piece of trash. He hasn't had the benefit of coaching hundreds of games at the DII level or coaching at a mid-major where he could coach against poor competition and build a glowing record. Any one who knows anything about basketball would not argue that he is a poor coach. Is his record the same as Pearl's record? No, but that doesn't mean he is not a good coach.

He teaches well during practice. I attended a few and am good friends with 2 former pine riders for him.

Then promptly loses during games. Maybe he is a really good assistant coach and not so good head coach.

Perhaps you should check the records---much better than Billy D? I don't think the record would verify that statement. Slightly worse than Cal? Cal can recruit circles around Pearl, but Pearl is probably the better floor coach. Hard for me to make that statement when I watch our half-court offense.

When coaching in the ncaa tourney(top 65 or so teams) Bruce has won 10 games in 9 seasons. O'Neill has 2 wins in 13 seasons.

Perhaps you should comprehend my post better. My post was pointing out your flaw of looking at head to head records, then you go into Cal's recruiting. I'll say it again: based on head to head records, Pearl must've been a much better coach than Billy D before this year and is only slightly worse than Cal. Obviously in reality, both are better than Pearl, but I took your theory on H2H records and made a couple of ridiculous statements.

Well, that settles it! Pearl is worlds better coach than O'Neal. Where they have coached makes no difference. The type program and level of competition makes no difference. The only real difference is O'Neal isn't facing NCAA sanctions for unethical behavior and for lying to the NCAA. That alone, makes him the better coach in my book.

I have added in calculations for strength of schedule (tourney). They coached at the exact same school. O'Neill has had much better jobs than Pearl and still didn't win.

Chase Budinger, Jordan hill, nic wise, jawan McClellan, and jeerad bayless? I'll have 19-15 and a first round exit.

Oh, then you were one of the "Everybody lies" idiots. I lump you all together. Making distinctions among garbage is a waste of time. I just look forward to the day there's a number on the other side of the hyphen in your username. Have a nice day.

Translation: you are dumb and I look forward to your death.

That's a different spin.

I stopped reading midway through the 3rd page. The obvious issue here is that the OP can't differentiate between "more successful" and "better." Those aren't the same thing. It's possible to be a worse coach but still be more successful. Take RichRod. He was very successful at West Virginia. Nobody's going to mistake him for a beacon of excellence in the realm of coaching.

You just lied so it proves my point.

Yeah, I intentionally credited a post from one of your Pearl sucking collegues to you. It's part of a diabolical plan. I'm slick like that. You, on the other hand, prove that the stereotypes of UT fans as inbred retards with the morals of a barn animal are too kind.

You might want to ask hat about rich rod.
